"Dan and Dan were amazing! They took the job right before Thanksgiving. We were having family come into town and needed both my shower plumbing and change my kitchen sink and faucet, along with the plumbing. They were professional, efficient, and explained everything every step of the way. We plan on hiring them again in the very near future to help remodel our basement. Thank you so much for your prompt response and a job well done! "

"Miguel was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was quick and to the point which I enjoy as a trait. He explained what was happening and what the issues could have been. Unfortunately, we weren't able to correct the main issue as he replaced one part and the rest of the toilet is new. Seems like the toilet is the problem and needs replaced. I need to think it through before proceeding."

"In our 100-year old house, we’ve had many repairs done over the 40 years that we’ve lived here. That includes drain opening. But this job presented as among the worst ever, potentially, as the bathroom drain suddenly stopped completely with no warning. The company that we usually call for drains did not respond at all. So we went on Angie’s List which has helped us in the past with other, bigger repairs (upgrading to 100-amp service, and other electrical work). Angie’s list sent us a few options, and AAA responded immediately. They were in the neighborhood on another job, so they came over after finishing that one, in only an hour. The big difference was the work. Instead of just one guy, which was usually what we’d get for a drain, they sent two big strong guys who teamed up in handling a huge snake unit. There’s no way it could have been done solo. They were very careful with our old pipes, and were successful. We will definitely use them next time for sure ."

"The experience was not quite what I expected. I had clearly explained the scope—replacing 10-12 standard switches with smart switches giving model number/spec—and was hoping for a lump sum proposal, but they only offered hourly rates, which is understandable. They estimated it would take about 2 hours, but the job ended up taking over 4. While they mentioned having done similar installations before, they spent quite a bit of time reviewing instructions on site, which added to the time and cost. The final bill was over $800 for a couple switches, including a service fee and $10 for wire connector? (The switches come with connector) Just a heads-up to others: be sure to ask detailed questions about hourly charges and how time will be managed, especially for smart device installations."

FAQs for drain clog or blockage clearing projects in Staten Island, NY

Snaking a simple clog near a tub, toilet, or sink often takes about five minutes. Deeper blockages along the main line can stretch the job to a few hours because the pro must feed extra cable and may need a camera to confirm the pipe is clear. Either way, specialized tools help pros work quickly and keep your drains running for the long haul.

Aggressive snaking can scratch pipes, push debris deeper, or even crack older lines. That risk is low with an experienced plumber who matches the cable size to the pipe and eases the snake through bends instead of forcing it. If you’re unsure of your technique—or your pipes are already fragile—calling a licensed pro is the safest, and often cheapest, move.

Start with simple barriers: mesh screens on every tub, shower, and sink keep hair, food bits, and jewelry out of the pipes. Skip harsh chemicals; a monthly flush with hot (not boiling) water clears light buildup without damaging plastic lines. Finally, practice smart disposal—no grease, wipes, or kitty litter down the drain—and schedule routine cleanings if you have older plumbing.

Roto‑Rooter typically charges a flat $160 to $450 for standard snaking, which may include a quick sewer inspection and basic clean‑out. Exact pricing depends on the clog’s location and complexity. Repairs or part replacements fall outside that flat fee, so ask for a line‑item estimate if your tech spots broken pipe sections or recommends additional work.

Most liquid cleaners rely on caustic chemicals that eat through hair and grime—but they also erode metal and even some plastics over time. Repeated use strips protective pipe coatings and can leave you with leaks or premature failures. If hot water or a plunger doesn’t help, call a plumber for mechanical removal instead of pouring more chemicals down the line.
