"We were originally scheduled for an early December job, but a slot opened and we were inserted two months earlier. Doug and his crew showed up early in the morning on the first day to drain the pool and begin tearing down the safety fence, removing accessories and making way for the machinery to gain access to the pool area. Once everything was cleared, a bobcat and a backhoe were used to remove the concrete and break up the marcite as necessary to meet code. All waste and concrete remnants were hauled away. Day two involved filling the pool after approval by the town inspector, then putting down topsoil and seeding the area. The entire job was completed in two days. Now, three weeks later, the seed is sprouting with an expectation that the lawn will establish well next spring. All in all, it seems that Pool Busters did a great job! The final proof will be seeing how much the pool area settles after the winter season. So far, so good after a couple of saturating rains."

"Choice was fast, efficient, and kept me posted on the progress of the claim. Although the water leak issue was discovered on a Friday, they had a plumber there to investigate by Saturday morning. When it was determined that the 20+ year old heater needed to be replaced, the replacement ordered, on-site, and installed by Wednesday morning. I am glad that we opted for the Choice Ultimate plan as other than the initial $65 service fee, all but one $50 ancillary expense was covered."

"I was pleased with the professionalism of the handyman that they sent. When he started into the shower project and removed the fixture he stated that he was going to have to replace the fixture and asked where the closest plumbing supply store (or Lowes, Home Depot) was located. I understand that the handyman can't anticipate every single problem that it could be before they get there and bring parts for all anticipated problems. However, I didn't want to pay $75 per hour to send the handyman to the parts store. So I had him move onto the next project. Surprisingly he was pleased to do what I asked and didn't hesitate to move on. The faucet that I had him replace was because I had tried to replace it myself and it was on there good. I wasn't able to get it loose. And I didn't want to deal with it. Once the handyman got into the project you could tell that he was struggling. But he forged on without complaint. He removed the old faucet and replaced it with the new (that I had already purchased). I had also purchased replacement water lines. After he was finished everything worked and everything was cleaned up. He was on site for an hour and twenty minutes and only charged me for an hour which I thought was remarkable.

The owner of the company called a couple of days later to ask how everything went and if I had any concerns. I did not at the time. I appreciated the call.

A week later I noticed water leaking from under the sink where the faucet was replaced. I called Express Handyman late in the afternoon to report the problem. They had the same handyman come back out the next morning. He said that a water shut off had failed from under the sink. He replaced the valve. There was no charge for him coming back out.

Express Handyman could have very well told me that the valve was old, that it wasn't in their original scope of work and that there would be a charge for them coming out. But he didn't. He replaced the valve and when I asked him what I owed him he said and quot;nothing, we are all set.and quot;

I am very pleased with the work and moreover the customer service of Express Handyman. They have gained a regular customer from here on out."

"In ground pool was totally redone from tile work, to copping stones, to new marcite. It received a total face lift. And Bob (the owner of Prestiege Pools) made sure that the work was done by his team of professionals without a hitch. Impressive experience! Thank you Bob!"

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

FAQs for swimming pool covers installation and replacement projects in Sterling Heights, MI

The lifespan of automatic pool covers varies by component. Cover fabrics require replacement every five to six years, costing between $2,000 and $5,000, depending on size and material quality. Mechanical elements like motors function for five to ten years before needing replacement at $450 plus labor. The tracking system and housing unit can last considerably longer with proper care. Scheduling professional maintenance one to three times yearly at $150 to $200 per service helps maximize the operational life of all components.

While automatic covers require a larger initial investment, they provide significant advantages that often justify the premium. The convenience of one-touch operation encourages more consistent use, maximizing energy savings that can reach 50% to 70% on heating costs. The enhanced safety features, reduced chemical requirements, and decreased water evaporation deliver ongoing operational savings. These benefits outweigh the higher upfront expense for households that use their pools frequently.

Most existing pools can be retrofitted with automatic covers, though rectangular shapes accommodate them more easily than custom configurations. On-deck track systems offer the most straightforward installation for existing pools since they require minimal structural modifications. Recessed track systems necessitate more substantial deck alterations but provide a cleaner appearance. A professional assessment is essential to determine which system best suits your pool's specific layout and structural characteristics.

Proper maintenance includes promptly removing standing water and debris to prevent excessive weight on the cover. Use manufacturer-approved cleaning solutions for periodic washing according to recommended guidelines. Keep tracks clear of dirt and obstructions that could cause alignment problems or motor strain. Professional servicing one to three times yearly allows technicians to inspect mechanical components, lubricate moving parts, and make necessary adjustments before minor issues develop into major problems requiring costly repairs.
