"We had a great experience with Howard. He thoroughly checked out 1930's bungalow out and made plenty of recommendations - but also let us know what options for improvements wouldn't really benefit us...he kept us from doing things that would cost a lot of money and not save us at least as much money in the long run. Howard provided a full report of his findings and later recommended a heating and air service for us to use. He also asked for our opinion on the heating and air guys he recommended so that he could make sure that his recommended partners are performing in a way he finds suitable. I'd recommend Howard's services if you're concerned about the efficiency of your home and are unsure of how to move forward - I feel you can trust his assessment."

"I asked Georgia Radon Solutions Company for help to reduce the radon in my basement, which had a reading of 8. Mitchell Stein contacted me 2 hours before arrival. Upon arrival, he inspected the basement and explained how the work would be done and addressed my concern about how the duct would connect to the outside. He also gave me a reasonable price quote. He then noticed that I had an Aprilaire Energy Recovery Ventilator installed in my basement. I told him that the ventilator is not working and needs needs to be fixed. He suggested that I fix the ventilator and get it running, which may then solve my radon issue. I took the suggestion and fixed the ventilator, and now my basement has a radon reading of 2. I greatly appreciate Mitchell's professionalism and honesty. He was willing to put aside business profits to look out for a customer's needs, which is hard to find nowadays."

"They came out and did the work. I bought a Radon meter and my reading was ranging from 5 to 8. Once the work was completed, they dropped down the 1.1. They took their shoes off when they went inside the house and respected the household. I Will not think twice about hiring them for any other project."

"I called Nathaniel after another contractor found suspected asbestos tape in our crawl space. Nathaniel was able to arrange a same-day appointment for me at a price that was the best of all the many companies I called. He arrived on time and was professional, courteous, and competent. I plan to continue with them for the abatement of any issues his testing uncovers and would highly recommend his team!"

"Alex completed an extremely thorough home inspection for us, including Radon inspection. He encouraged us to be with him during the inspection so he could point out and explain each issue in person. This was highly valuable to us and far more helpful than our last home inspection. The written report was very detailed and helpful in negotiating repairs for the home with the seller. We could not be happier with Alex and would recommend him to anyone."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Stone Mountain, GA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
