"Better be safe than sorry! Couple weeks ago we realized that we were pressing our luck by not having any type of alarm or security automation system. Used Alarm Protection Group to get a standard system that sends us alerts if the doors open and we can turn lights on from our phones when we aren’t home."

"The alarm security system in our condo needed to be upgraded. Ryan L, who we worked with on the project was fantastic all-around and COVID safe. Strongly encourage everyone to reach-out to Protect Your Home; the ADT Authorized Premier Provider."

"Good price. Typical monitoring services. My only real issue is that most of their account servicing needs to be done via snail mail or over the phone--they do not have a website to update contact info, billing info, or other details."

"Frontpoint's customer service is excellent in my experience. I've rarely had any kind of a hold time when calling them, and their US-based call center staff are friendly and polite. Occasionally, slight oddball issues led to me needing to make more than one call to resolve an issue, but they worked with me to resolve problems as necessary. The system was fairly simple to set up, but not quite as intuitive and easy as they seem to think - I had a few problems that couldn't be solved until they shipped me additional adhesive. I also received two faulty sensors in my original purchase. Frontpoint was helpful and pleasant in resolving those issues, and even overnighted a box of replacement supplies to me to eventually resolve the problem, but of course I would prefer not to have had to deal with this at all. The service calls quickly when an alarm is triggered, and leads me to feel more secure. Thankfully, I haven't had any break-ins or other actual emergencies since installing the system. Frontpoint is fairly future-ready: I have a camera feed I can view online on their website or mobile app, and I have my wifi thermostat hooked up so that I can use one app to control my cameras, security system, and HVAC system. I recently received a Google Home as a gift, and I do wish that Frontpoint integrated more easily into that - but none of their competitors seem to do so, either. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase and agreement. Frontpoint hits just about at the sweet spot between total DIY (purchase your own cameras and alarms and monitor them yourselves) and paying someone for a service (ADT, etc.). I'd love if it was a little cheaper, but it doesn't seem unfair."

"I have had that service for 3 or 4 months. There were several robberies in this area and that is why I got it. They are competitive. It was one of those deals where I got it for free and then I pay for the monthly service. It is a two or three year contract. They call the police if someone sets off one of the sensors. If I do not get to the alarm in time, they will call me. I have had a couple of times where my grandson set the alarm and I went into the garage and did not hear it go off and the next thing that I knew the police were there. There is a $25 fine for those. It has nothing to do with the alarm company. If the city gets called out 3 times, the first time is $25, second time is $45, the third time is an additional $45, and they evaluate the system. That has not happened yet. I have been happy with them. It runs strictly by cell phone. They are right on it when that alarm goes off. They sent it to me and it had all of the parts and then I installed it and it is fairly simple to do.

"

I responded to an ad for a $99 ADT alarm installation and ended up buying a $1900 system. My monthly monitoring fee doubled to $56 a month. It does include smoke and fire monitoring which the previous system didn't. System was installed on time. But I now have a re-occurring fault with the front door sensor. This coming Thursday will be the 5th time Protect Your Home will be attempting to fix the same problem. I called ADT to get a billing adjustment, and they told me I have to call back after the service call to request an adjustment. Strange, but even I (at 70-years old) can get to the alarm history and see the number of faults that have occurred over the past 8-10 weeks.

After foolishly signing a 2-year contract, I found all of the alarm equipment could be purchased at Radio Shack for 1/3 to 1/2 the price ADT charges. It appears the alarm companies are primarily interested in selling alarm systems and monitoring contracts; all of the actual monitoring is done by computer.

The service calls are easy to make and the response time is pretty good, but I'm tired of getting service for the same problem with no relief from ADT.

My advice is to shop around for alarm systems, especially for the monitoring contracts. Beware of the fine print that automatically renews your contract unless you proactively cancel during the last month.

Yes, he was late, but I think there are some very good reasons for that.  I had signed up for the deal because the deadbold for a side door in the attached garage was barely working.  I was afraid someone had broken in.  I'm 60 and living alone, and I mentioned my concerns about security.  He spent quite a bit of time going over what might be the best fix.  I ended up concentrating on the side door because the front fence & gate block the view from the street, and he said burglars prefer that to working on the front door where anyone could see them.   He said he could fix the deadbolt instead replacing it so it would still be on the same key as other exterior doors.  He recommended I replace the original, 55-year-old locking knob with a new, more secure lock, so I did that, too.  While he was doing this I told him the door was hard to lock in the winter because it swells and sticks, and it's difficult to get the lock lined up with the strike.  He studied the problem, and worked on widening the strike, and when that wasn't good enough, he realized that the wood inside the strike had to be dug out some, and he did a very careful job with it until the door works like a dream.  It would have cost less if he'd done a "quick and dirty job" but I'm confident that his fix will stay fixed and I won't have to struggle with that darn door anymore.  I don't mind paying him for the extra time he took to get it right the first time.

The second thing I wanted to do was replace the knob to my bedroom with one that locks.  He had a locking knob, but I wasn't sure it looked enough like the other house knobs.  He was totally patient with me as I obsessed about it a while (Not everybody has that kind of patience !)  I ended up going with it, and it looks fine.  To install it he drilled out a bigger hole to accommodate the new lock, installed it, and tested how the door worked.  This happen ed to be another door that is often a bit hard to latch.  Again, he worked on widening the strike with his dremel tool, and digging out the wood so it lined jup with the strike opening until the door closed and latched with barely a nudge.

If he had just gotten right to work on the things I said I wanted, he would have met his schedule just fine.  Instead, he listened carefully to what I said, heard my concerns about security, discussed relevant issues with me, and made recommendations, and listened to my reactions.  I'm very satisfied that, with his help, I made good choices on what work I got done.  That's worth some money right there!  Lots of people won't really give you the benefit of their knowledge and experience because often the client doesn't appreciate it, doesn't want to pay for it, or just thinks their looking for more money.  It's certainly easier not to bother with all that and just "give 'em what they want."  Personally, I'm grateful Robert was willing to take the time to hear what I needed and help me make good decisions.  He wasn't pushy about it, just forthright.

While Robert was working on my job, he was very focused .  He wasn't thinking about the next job, he didn't hurry, and didn't look at his watch once.  It was like he just wanted to do the best job for me that he could.  And if he had scheduled my job based on what I thought I wanted, he'd have definitely been late for his next appointment.  And I forgot to say -- he was very pleasant and professional the whole time.  He is worth waiting for:  just pick a day when your schedule is flexible."
