VMA Electric bid the job out carefully and coped with calm and competence with the inevitable difficulties (some incompatibilities between the main panel breaker and the charger's GFI, routing wire between the ground floor fireplace and the chimney on the roof, solution=an elegant wireless Lutron switch). Joe recommended going with a wireless switch for the basement lights to avoid having to run a long cable to the bulkhead doorway - that was a better idea than what I had originally thought. In order to find a pilot light switch for our attic (one that glows red when the lights are on - because you don't see the lights if you accidentally leave them on), he had to go to two different electrical supply stores.
