"Outstanding. They did everything they said they would do and more. They were here when they said they would be. The office kept in touch with us so we always knew what to expect and when to expect it. Their crew was courteous and very professional. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience and the quality of the work."

"Excellent! Raoul was the paver designer and he and his crew did a fantastic job. He was professional, knowledgeable, and meticulous. He kept us advised from start to finish. They were punctual and site was thoroughly cleaned up when finished. We are so very pleased and have a beautiful elegant patio with walkways leading to our two gates. I highly recommend them."

"This experience was outstanding from start to finish. Buddy arrived on time for the estimate, provided a fair price and didn't try to sell me more than I needed. The job was in a confined area of downtown Charleston which would have ordinarily required many trips with a small truck. I was okay with paying for this, but without prompting, he negotiated with the owner of a neighboring lot to eliminate this cost and passed the savings along. That's customer service! The gravel has been installed for a month now and still looks great. Overall, my experience was excellent and they receive my highest recommendation."

"Williford Roofing assessed the problem and recommended two options - spot application of a flat roof sealant product in the area where the leak was occurring or apply the sealant to the entire roof. While applying to the entire roof would provide a warranty, Williford expected that the lower cost, spot application would resolve the issue. We opted for that, with the understanding that if the smaller application did not resolve the issue we could later have the entire roof repaired. So far, the work has held up very well and no leaks have been noted despite heavy rain. Another roofing contractor had previously attempted repairs but did not stop the leak. Thanks for the good work."

"I called Dave, but only got his voicemail, so I didn't leave a message, I just hung up as I was calling a lot of people trying to get someone to answer me immediately in an attempt to get someone over to my house as soon as possible. inbetween calling others, Dave called me back as he had seen someone had called him! So I made an appointment with him. he was already there when I had arrived at the appointed time and had already inspected the outside of the house. we went into the house and he spent about a 1/2 hour going into the attic, coming back down and looking at the cracks in the ceiling down below and measuring to make sure that where he was looking in the attic was the same place as where the cracks were forming downstairs. he gave me his advice about this problem and also some recommendations for what to do about some other possible problems he had seen around the outside of the house. What a wonderful professional! As someone who invests in real estate, but does not have a tremendous amount of knowledge about the structure and foundation of homes, it was great to have someone explain to me why I should have certain things done in order to make sure the house is sound, above and beyond what the problem that I called him about in the first place. Thank you so much Dave. I so appreciate it!"

"We expected to have the advertisement honored, especially the part that stated that labor and materials were included. We received a contract about 3.5 months after we signed up for the deal for $43K, not including any materials, except cabinets. We were responsible for paying for and supplying tile, counter tops, light fixtures, back splash, door knobs and pulls. We also asked about any warranty and we were basically told these were worthless regardless of what anyone promised.

Trey is definitely honest so we appreciated that. But just have to remember if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is! I think there was a lack of communication between the service provider and Angie's list. Just recommend before signing up, confirm all details with the service provider. And be prepared to pay extra for ANY upgrades or add-ons."

"They were good. They were timely and they were quick. They were very expensive though. Our experience with them was fine. They were friendly and very helpful. They were quick to respond, but they were very expensive. They were able to handle just about any need. They advertise that they can do almost anything. That comes in handy when we have several jobs that we want done that aren't related like plumbing or electrical or whatever. They can do it all. It was probably six to eight months since they came out. I can't remember the cost because there were several different things that they did and they came back more than once. The quality of work was excellent. I was comparing them to a handyman that I have at another home who is much more reasonable, but he is not in the same town either. Everything is much more expensive here."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Sullivans Island, SC

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
