"A month ago, I met with the company president to discuss refinishing two of the marble floors in my home.  During that meeting, the president noticed that I could possibly have more damage UNDER my floors by the way one of my marble tiles had broken.  He was absolutely correct.  I had a contractor look at the damage and he confirmed that there was damage to my subfloor that needed to be fixed.  After having another company repair the floor, I asked Dustin Nichols, President of SOLID ROCK REFINISHING COMPANY to come and refinish the newly repaired foyer and master bathroom.  His brother in law, Eric, who also works at the company, and a crew of men came to my home on the date agreed to and at the correct time.  During the first day of the job I learned about the other services this company does.  During the next two days, I had this team and the president fix broken ceramic tile in another bathroom, refinish the two marble floors, they cleaned the grout in three ceramic tile bathrooms, fixed two counter tops of cultured marble, and seal four bathrooms so that mildew can not grow on the grout.  They did all of these services for the original price.  I am thrilled with their service and the work done. <br />"

"Having built homes before we figured when a builder tells you cost and time lines you factor in 25% in overruns and delays but <em>we were pleasantly surprised at<strong> no overruns & no delays</strong>.<br /> <br /> </em>We finalized our plans in October 2011 and by November 2011 the land was cleared and the foundation poured. We returned in January 2012 to walk the site before electric and plumbing was completed, we made a few changes, which DCC accommodated without a surcharge ( <em>a first for us</em>). Throughout the building stages DCC took pictures and provided us with weekly updates as to the progress of our cabin ( <em>another first</em>). <br /> <br /> The local craftsmen used by DCC worked throughout the winter and by the third week of March the project was completed. We took possession of THE SUMMIT (our name for the cabin) on March 23, 2012. When we did the final walk through with DCC owner Kevin Beauchesne we were so impressed with the outcome we knew this was due to the personal involvement Kevin took throughout the project. A formidable feat considering the challenges of our building site which is on the top of Redwood Ridge in the Deep Creek community of Bryson City, NC. <br /> <br /> A year later in May 2013 we were at THE SUMMIT for a weekend get-away when a wicked storm with winds of 60+ mph raged for hours and we enjoyed a spectacular light show put on by Mother Nature in the comfort and security of our beautiful well built cabin."

"Said he would arrive around 1PM on first day and was here at exactly 1PM. His crew was very nice and easy to deal with. Did an outstanding job of cleanup and removal and was very efficient in doing all that was requested of him. Would definitely recommend him to friends and neighbors. Will definitely use him again. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Sylva, NC

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
