"Highly recommend this company. Damian gave me a fair quote of $425 to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for EV charging and was able to complete the job the same day. Professional, responsive, punctual, and the work came out clean and solid. Everything was explained clearly and the whole process was smooth. I’d definitely use him again for future electrical work."

"T.E.C. Electric was outstanding , professional, communicated with me through the process and affordable. Rodney came out to assess a main breaker panel replacement for my home that was built in 1984. He found the main breaker was starting to fail which was causing power issues without tripping any breakers. The issue was causing certain half the panel to sporadically lose power and come back on randomly. He recommended replacing the whole panel and informed me what the process would require regarding permits, coordinating with APS and the City. All went smooth and the work was excellent. I would definitely hire T.E.C. Electric again. This is a owner operator company and the work is done by code and completed in a professional manner. Definitely 5 stars for this company. Thank you Rodney!! Also thank you Angie for having this Company on your list. Don Hestand/ Glendale"

"Jason and his staff (Julie in the office and Robert an electrician) did a fabulous job for us installing a new panel, two sub-panels, improving service in our old kitchen (couldn't run the dishwasher and microwave at the same time) a new porch light, and a car charger. Our house was built in 1938 and has 3 phase electricity. That was complicated by the fact that we were with APS that usually handles 2 phase, so there was a lot of coordination that had to take place. Jason was most professional and worked hard to minimize the disruption of service. He worked well with APS and the City of Phoenix in coordinating the inspections and scheduling the work. Robert got up in our cramped and hot attic to provide the additional service to the kitchen. This is an honest 5 Star review. I can't recommend Static Sun highly enough. Jason was on time, was neat and clean, and left the job site in perfect order. I believe that we were fairly charged and he was up front in telling us that he would not be the most expensive but he wouldn't be the cheapest either. The other electrician we consulted (who was highly recommended by our neighbors) declined the job as being too complex."

"Excellent customer service. As someone who had very little experience with electrical hard wiring, they made me feel comfortable in all stages of the project. The technicians were awesome and ensured that I was informed and that the work was done to my standards. I would definitely hire them again."

"Excellent. Our whole back wall lost power. When he checked the panel he discovered there was no master switch nor had it been maintained. The house is 50 years old & he discovered one aluminum wiring. All a fire hazard & something that needed to be replaced if we ever sold the house They worked with us on financing"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Tempe, AZ

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
