"We had a leak in our pool somewhere but just unable to locate it. AquaDoc came out and found the leak and repaired it very quickly. We haven't had a problem since then. Shane, the tech, was friendly and extremely knowlegeable. We would definitely use their services again and highly recommend for any pool repair service."

"These guys are great.  We have a very large and elaborate salt pool system with two filters, several pumps and a solar heating system.  James and his crew were out to the property almost every day for a week or so.  Their attention to detail and personal supervision to ensure everything was perfect was amazing.  1st Rate now provides our regular pool service and the quality remains equally high.  They use our remote access to monitor our system from their shop when they are not here.  James educated me on some very interesting details of how salt systems function and how to optimally manage it.  I honestly wish all service providers were this professional and attentive.  Highly recommend!

"It was amazing service. Attention to detail and made sure the job the job was done right. Also once the check was written and the job was over they answered any questions I still had. I would suggest them for anything that has to do with a pool or spa."

"After contacting A-Affordable Pool, they came out to inspect the project, provide their suggestions on what needed to be done along with  a price estimate, and project timeframe. After agreeing to move forward, we encountered approx. a week's delay due to rain, and then they called to advise us they would be onsite the next day to drain the pool and begin the project.  During the process, one of the owners would call to update us on next steps or to set a day/time to come by to discuss progress in person and to answer our questions. They did this three times over the course of the project to address our concerns, providing answers and/or options as needed."

"They always let us know what, if any, problems may be before we even get a chance to call them.  We don’t ever have to do anything to our pool ourselves.  We have five dogs, some of which are aggressive.  They send the same guy every week and we have never had a problem.  They have never sent anyone out I wasn’t comfortable with.  They bought out our previous pool company, but kept all the people.  It has been great service all the way around."

FAQs for swimming pool or accessories repair or service projects in The Colony, TX

A well-maintained, correctly sized pump lasts eight to 12 years. Help it reach the upper end of that range by cleaning the strainer basket, monitoring for unusual sounds, and verifying that the pump’s flow rate matches the filter's specifications. Address leaks or pressure dips quickly—minor fixes now cost far less than a premature replacement later.

Listen for grinding or screeching, watch for breaker trips, and keep an eye on sudden spikes in your electric bill—any one of these signals the pump needs attention. If repairs continue to accumulate or the unit is older than eight years, replacement often makes more financial sense. Contact a qualified pool repair professional immediately to diagnose the issue and prevent further damage to the filter or plumbing.

It’s best to keep your pool pump on while swimming. Keeping the pump on while you swim allows the filter and skimmers to catch debris in real-time, maintaining water features flowing. It’s not mandatory, but weaving swim time into your regular eight-to-12-hour schedule helps maintain crystal-clear water and consistent chemical levels without extra effort.

Start by shutting off the power at the breaker and verifying with a voltage meter. Close the water valves, bleed pressure, and unbolt the old pump. Wire the new unit according to the manufacturer's diagram, glue in the PVC unions, prime the housing, and tighten everything securely. Open the valves, flip the breaker, and watch for steady water flow and quiet operation. If any step feels beyond your expertise, consider hiring a licensed electrician or pool technician.
