"Penate Tile is great, I had them refurbish a basement room and build a screen porch and both projects were excellent. On time, affordable, and great craftsmanship."

"I get them for everything they do. I know the owner personally, and I have used them for about fifteen years now off and on. They are not the cheapest folks in the world, but when they do a job, it is done right. I had some problems with one skylight outside the warranty period and the owner came out himself. He got up there, looked at it, and cleaned out some debris that had accumulated. He got a hose up, washed it down, and blew it all out. I never had a problem with it since, and that was two or three years after warranty. He assured me that it did not need replacing. They do not do unnecessary work. That impressed me. I like everything about their service and everything about their people. They are on time. They do what they say they are going to do. They are very conscientious. The workmen clean up after themselves. Anything you want out of a construction company, these guys do it well."

"The firm has had the pleasure of working with Thomas Dill of Dill Cabinetry since 2016. Mr. Dill is a visionary and has created and installed stunning pieces of furniture for the firm. For example, a floating credenza, a coffee bar and a large, beautifully crafted reception desk just to name a few. Mr. Dill also refurbishes furniture returning pieces to their original glory. Mr. Dill and his team are true professionals; reliable, honest and hardworking. I highly recommend Dill Cabinetry. If you want beautifully handcrafted furniture that will stand the test of time, contact Dill Cabinetry."

"They guarantee that you’ll never have a wet basement as long as the property is there.  There are very few companies that will guarantee their work like this.  It was easy to schedule the service and they had lots of options for appointments.  They had a crew of 5-6 and they did the job within the timeframe and priced as stated.  There was an issue with the battery beeping, but that was handled with a phone call and they were prompt in fixing that.  The job was very labor-intensive and they were very professional.  I would recommend them highly."

"AWESOME JOB!!!!! Anthony's Remodeling did a awesome job!! I called Anthony to inquire about a estimate and received a call back the same day. The other contractors I called, never returned my calls. He scheduled the estimate the next day and started the same week. He did a excellent job, his pricing was less than we expected. He offered a military and senior discount. He explained everything in detail to me which meant a lot and his demeanor shows he cares about his customers. His work ethic is impeccable. Everything was completed ahead of schedule and sooner than we expected. I am more than PLEASED with the work performed and am definitely using for other projects I need completed in the next few weeks. Thank you for your service. It was a pleasure working with you and your team. I am definitely calling Anthony's Remodeling for everything I need in the future. Thank you so much."

"Having lived in my house for 25 years, I knew exactly what I wanted. I had plans drawn up by an independent architect. Rick had a few <br /> good suggestions to add to the plans. We had 4 separate bids on our project. Rick's bid was not the most expensive nor the cheapest. I chose Rick because I felt that he really listened to me and that I could work with him the best. Things started on time but we had a bit of a delay due to weather and the framers he uses being behind on other projects. Once the framing was complete things moved much more timely. This was about a 6 month project all total. Rick's subs were all extremely good at what they do and were all very professional. He has a fantastic team from the foundation to the finishers. There were some days that were down days with no work going on but they were few. Sometimes we had to wait for inspections or at the end for the wood flooring to adapt to the humidity. Work was completed exactly to the contract, no hidden or extra costs without an addendum to the contract being written for a specific dollar amount and signed by both parties. Overall we are extremely pleased with our new space. People come in and are in awe of what we have had done. Jaws literally drop. There were a couple things that needed fixing after the house was completed and Rick immediately sent someone over to do the repairs. They were completed satisfactorily and in a timely manner. I have highly recommended Rick to friends and to potential clients that he has sent to review work he and his team have completed. I will use Freedom Works, Inc. in the future for any home improvements I need done and will continue to recommend Rick and his team. <br /> <br />"

"Brain Weese <br /> Weese <br /> Remodeling, LLC <br /> 2201 Main <br /> Street. Suite 4 <br /> <br /> Chester, MD <br /> 21619 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> December 10, <br /> 2013 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Dear Brian – <br /> <br /> So often we do not take the time to let <br /> people and businesses know about great experiences, hence the purpose of my <br /> letter to you today! <br /> <br /> When we bought our new home back in <br /> September, quickly we noticed it lacked an office/library space, which is major <br /> priority considering both Andrew and I work from home. Our home is not at all lacking in beautiful <br /> and detailed finishes, but an office was needed and it needed to compliment the <br /> rest of the home. We decided to turn the <br /> “formal living room” (right off the main entrance to the house), into our home <br /> office/library. That decision put us on <br /> a frustrating path to obtain a substantial book shelf unit, executive desk etc. <br /> <br /> A somewhat nice and substantial <br /> furniture set for the room was going to run us anywhere from 8K to 10K, which <br /> was more than we wanted to spend on furniture that did not include solid wood <br /> or custom finishes. (Ethan Allen, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware etc). <br /> <br /> The above brought us to visit your <br /> website, (which we saw advertised on our kids school folder) from there, what a <br /> great decision we made to go with a custom built in unit for our office! <br /> <br /> I drew a picture for you on a piece of <br /> scrap paper, from there, you were able to take measurements, scope out the job <br /> and forward me a picture perfect rendition of what I wanted! We were even able to work together to ensure <br /> we stayed on budget. <br /> <br /> It took me over a week to agree to the <br /> contract, which you very professionally put together and sent to us within days <br /> of visiting our home. Even with that, <br /> your team was able to install the unit before Thanksgiving (which was my wish), <br /> just short of 4 weeks after we agreed to move forward! <br /> <br /> Let me take a moment to tell you how <br /> wonderful Craig was with the install. <br /> Craig informed us via email when he would be at our home, along with a <br /> timeline for completion. Craig showed up <br /> just as expected daily, worked very hard and got the job done just in time for <br /> Thanksgiving dinner! Craig was a joy to <br /> have in our home and was patient with everyone looking on as he worked. Craig was very diligent in ensuring <br /> cleanliness as he worked and used drop cloths going in and out of the house to <br /> ensure our floors were protected. (It <br /> rained 2 of the 3 days during the install) <br /> Craig was careful to alert me before he needed to interrupt our wireless <br /> or phones service also, which was greatly appreciated as we needed to work from <br /> home during the construction. <br /> <br /> Finally, the finished product – WOW, it <br /> exceeded our expectations in every possible way. I’m so impressed with the solid wood, tongue <br /> and groove drawers and the substantial size of the overall unit. We could not be happier with the entire <br /> experience with your company! <br /> <br /> I assure you more business from us and a <br /> referral to you company to everyone we know! <br /> Please feel free to share our contact information with anyone that asks <br /> for a reference. Thank you so much for <br /> the beautiful office. <br /> <br /> Sincerely, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Tara and Andrew - Kent Island Maryland"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Tilghman, MD

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
