"Mr. Ed is a plumber of course of course. I called him and he was responsive. He came out and I needed more work done than what we had planned. He took care of it all. He was very professional and the work was quality. If you ever need a plumber, please be sure to call Ed. I have used other plumbing services in the past for other issues but this guy has it down. No hidden costs, he has all the costs for each thing in writing in his folder and they are very reasonable."

"The Groundworks folks (formerly Bay Area Underpinning) applied their foundation-underpinning technology and expertise to extend to bedrock, level, square up the foundation for an extensive house remodel. I was most impressed by the young man onsite supervisor, Josh who answered all my work done, how and why questions. I wish this info was provided up front by the estimator. (My design-build remodel contractor referred this company). "

"Couldn't fix on the first visit as they needed to order the part.  It is an older tub/shower set up and initially he thought it might not be available. Fortunately they were able to obtain the part and it was repaired and is as good as new. Have been using Johnson Plumbing for several years now and they can handle any job...big or small.

"The plumber was very professional and explained the price up front. He had a binder with different repairs types and the prices. They have two prices. One for those with their repair plan and one for those without. The plan costs $99 for a year and includes a once a year plumbing inspection.and a 15% dicount on parts and labor. If you purchase the plan the repairs end up being only $15 dollars more so I brought the plan. The man did not pressure me to buy it. I gave a B overall because I think the price seems awfully high for less than  a foot of PVC and less than an 1 hour work even on a Saturday. If it weren't for that I would have given them an A overall. They did very good work and I will use them again and will recommend them as they were there when I needed them.

"Fantastic! The repair man was slightly late due to other appointments running longer, but I understand it happens so I'm not upset at all, but I'm still mentioning this in case anyone has a similar experience; please understand with repair work, these things happen a LOT. Also, rest assured, the company called me before the latest time estimate; they scheduled me an appointment between 12pm and 2pm, I got a call around 1:40 pm letting me know the situation. The woman I spoke to was very courteous and even apologetic for the delay, which I appreciate. Danny was my repair guy, and let me just say I hope all the workers are similar to his approach. Not only was he efficient, he was friendly, he listened to my concerns, and while giving me my options, he was sympathetic to my situation, which is something you don't see a lot of anymore. Danny didn't make me feel like I was just another sale to get more money, but regarded me as a person in need of help. When I was informed it was the garbage disposal, I was a bit afraid because I thought I would have to call in someone ELSE, like a handyman! Thankfully that was not the case, DP does offer the service, and thank goodness for that! My next worry was cost because, I've worked with Roto-Rooter for a different plumbing job a couple years ago, and it was around $230 JUST to clear out a single pipe that didn't even require digging. So having that experience with a plumbing company before, I was expecting much more than that this time... well, turns out that was not the case here either! My options were clear: A) Supply the part and they DP would get it installed for $149 or B) They supply and install on the spot for $249 I already knew a garbage disposal would run around $100 anyway, the cheapest I saw was $79 on Amazon, but honestly, I use the disposal daily and with my schedule, I don't exactly have time to go shopping around either, so I opted for the supply & install for $249. I was already more than pleased with this pricing anyway! The job was efficient, painless, and overall, the experience was just awesome. I'll definitely be turning to Discount Plumbing from now on with any issues with my plumbing - or my AC/Heating for that matter, they address that too!"

"I give the product and the people that installed the unit both 5 stars.  They work very hard and do not leave until the job is done right.  Last time they came out, it was in the middle of the summer and was very hot.  They did not complain and sometimes were here until 7:00 PM just to make sure the job was completed."

"Dealt with Bob directly.  He as always very kind, punctual and understanding.  Even though it was a difficult job, Bob and his crew welcomed the challenge and did an excellent job.  After the job was completed, there was a change that needed to be made to some of the drains that were installed.  This was also met with the same hassle free professionalism as before.  I look forward to working with this company in the future and I'd recommend their services to anyone."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Turlock, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
