"Well. 1st plumber who looked at the system said shower valves needed to be replaced but that was a problem because there are no access panels. Chaub plummer advised valves were good quality and there was no need to replace. He replaced/installed new hardware and did a great job in a timely manner."

"<p>My basement was an absolute disaster! I called Sweet's & they responded right away staying till around 2:30 am to make sure everything had been cleaned up & disinfected. After about a week of running fans to dry everything out, they did the restoration work in my basement which took about a week or so to complete. They told me that I could go to Lowe's & pick out new fixtures, doors, etc. The restoration work turned out nice, although the quality of the materials used were less expensive than the original building materials. (My house was built in the 1960s, so it had natural pine doors & wood moldings that were replaced with MDF.)</p> <p>Then, I got the bill! Yes, it was costly but Richard at Sweet's negotiated with the insurance adjuster and after 9 months my insurance company finally paid.</p> <p>What I most impressed with was Sweet's immediate response to an "after hours" emergency and their patience in getting paid.<br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"The serviceman showed up promptly, was very approachable & friendly, & began work immediately. He checked the pipes through the crawlspace, examined the drain, & spoke to me about the issues we were having. The cost was presented, & agreed upon. As soon as the papers were filled out the work was completed quickly, and the drain performance was drastically improved. The repairman also went over how to use an enzyme product that would help the drains remain flowing. I would absolutely use this business for my future plumbing/drain repair needs. Their work was impeccable from the making of the appointment to the finish of the job, <br />"

"Overall, it went very well. We were very pleased with the quality of his work for the most part, especially regarding the cuts for the trim work. (He did some customization for us.) He also did not water down the paint, which was important to us. (I tested by using a damp scrubby sponge to see if it would come off.) <br /> <br /> However, he went way over budget (29% over) and took more than twice the time he estimated it would take. And we were surprised that he is basically a one man show. I thought he would have a crew, but he only had a couple of guys that helped him at the beginning of the job, then we never saw them again. He also never supplied us with actual costs/prices of the supplies and labor. He just gave us an over all estimate. We would have appreciated having the breakdown so we could have made decisions if we wanted to make adjustments to keep within the budget. But as it was, he just told us towards the end of the job how much we had gone over. We knew he had gone over, but it was substantially more than we thought it was going to be. He did offer to show us receipts, but not knowing what he had estimated at the beginning for the costs of the supplies, seeing the reciepts at that point seemed pointless since we had no reference point to begin with. <br /> <br /> There were some exceptions in the quality of his work as well. For example, he installed the storm door incorrectly the first time, requiring us to reorder the strike plate side of the door. And he never offered to reimburse us for his mistake on this. And when he installed it the second time, he did not use a router for the holes in the door frame, but instead kind of chisled them out. It's not a huge thing, but it does not look professionally finished. He also sealed the tile before completely cleaning off the colored grout that had been smeared. And on the outside lights, he only used one screw instead of two to hold up the lights, a couple are quite large and really should have two to secure them in high winds. And we know this because you can tilt them from side to side and see the second screw hole that has no screw in it. <br /> <br /> At another time, he misunderstood a request I had made, and ended up doing something I did not care for. He told me several times he would correct the problem, but never did. He painted over it, I'm assuming with the hope I would not notice. I did not appreciate being told he would correct it and then not following through on that. <br /> <br /> We also would have appreciated more consideration on his part concerning our plants. When he initially came over to give us the estimate, I specifically asked if he would cover up the plants while he was painting and he said he would, but he did not. We had several that were only a few weeks in the ground, so we were trying to be careful with those to get them established. As it turned out, it was windy on the days he painted and the overspray got on my plants and the colored rubber mulch (which is expensive). And he did not cover ANY of the plants until I went outside and asked him too. He also stomped our tomato plants to death, literally, and flattened the tomato cages. When all he had to do was take a couple of extra steps to get around the plants, and just set the cages aside to keep from flattening them. My husband was not very happy about that. And he walked all over several plants in our flower bed when could have easily stepped around them. This was a small thing he could have done that would have meant alot, had he just taken more care. <br /> <br /> We also did not understand why he left the trash heap from taking all the trim off the house, for the entire length of the job. We just kept thinking he'd bring the truck and haul it off at some point, just not at the very end. <br /> <br /> Also, at the very beginning, he misunderstood our request to replace the trim on our house, to only be some of the trim, when we actually wanted it ALL to be replaced. So, as a favor to him, I went around the house and measured it all and faxed that info over to him. But we did not understand why he did not come out to double check my measurments to ensure a more acurate estimate before beginning the job. And as a result, he ended up needing different sizes and quite a bit more than he originally estimated because he did not double check my measurements. <br /> <br /> He also mentioned giving us a discount by purchasing all our materials at once, but not only did he not give us a discount, he bought everything as he needed it. He must have made 10 or more trips to the store to buy materials during the course of the job. I actually called him before he began the job and offered to buy the paint because it was on sale at a very good discount, but he told me not to because he could get a better price. I have to tell you that I think I may have saved us some money had I gone ahead and purchased the paint on the front end. <br /> <br /> But even with all the above issues, he still did a quality job on most everything, was very polite and courteous. The house and deck look very nice! And we know this will last for several years because he did not water down the paint and he sealed all the trim around the house with caulk and did a nice job of touching everything up. <br />"

"I took time off work to video the complete procedure of pipe busting a new jointless 4" HDPE pipe from the rear of the house to the middle of the street. A huge effort that included closing the street and obtaining a large number of permits and inspections. Despite adverse weather and close quarters between structures the Vietzke crew met all challenges, the whole job flowing like a well led orchestra. Thanks to the experience of the crew led by Chris and the schedualing, oversight of Nathan project completion was 48 hours start to finish. My street and my yard show little effect afterward. I am cofident after veiwing the post repair video that my thirty year headache has been remedied. I actually feel good about paying the bill."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Twin Falls, ID

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
