"Terrible customer service He created giant messes and lied to me on multiple occasions. I will say anything to get the project and not actually answer questions. When they came to give the quote, I asked them where they would put the heat pump and I said behind the house, but when they went to install it, it would not fit behind the house according to code. I constantly had to hound them to finish the job. They started in the spring, and then they did not finish until the winter, after saying they could start in 2 weeks. They left me without heat on below-freezing days because they were not finished. They did not honor parts of the contract. charged for service even though the contract says it is free for 3 years. They tried to charge me for things they did not install(humidifier). Installed the ventilation system over some sill rot. I left gaping holes in my home for months. I had to hound them every step of the way to get them to do the next part of the project. They were replacing propane and oil with gas and did not tell me I had to remove the propane to do so, and then the town would not permit their work and I had to pay out of pocket for more conversions. I had to hound them to get permits, including an oil tank removal permit, which they never pulled and I still do not have! The end result was an expensive system that I think is misconfigured and ill-fitting for my home (it does not remove humidity properly). If you would like to do the project management yourself, hire this company. That said, there was one very nice technician, but I would not have them install anything."

"Our 1920’s home is 3,100 square feet and required significant renovations to meet our modern lifestyle. My wife and I are in the design business [*** Link removed ***] so we’re very particular about the design and quality of the work to be preformed in our home. I have also renovated several homes, I’m pretty handy myself and have a fair amount of contracting knowledge. So I know what what to expect, how the work should be performed and the costs associated with it. We interviewed six highly rated contractors in a highly vetted and competitive bid process. Jeff set himself apart with his reviews on a number of highly reputable sites (including this one), home owner references (of which there are many) and team (plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, finishing carpenters, plasterers, masons, suppliers, etc.). His team of subs all have been working together for over 20 years and take tremendous pride in their work. They’ll show you pictures of their work like the projects are their children. Best of all they all have worked together on so many projects that they complete each other’s sentences. So nothing gets lost in translation between the customer, contractor and sub. Jeff also has his own crew who are incredibly dedicated, skilled, hardworking (i.e. removed a two story brick chimney in 3 days) and polished. One notable member of his team is Elvis (and yes he's a rock star too). He is the go to person for any challenges faced during a project. He's highly knowledgable and skilled. And his easy going, "we can do that" attitude with a smile is always welcomed. Having spent months with him, my kids consider him their long lost uncle. The renovation included a complete gut of the kitchen, 2.5 baths and four bedrooms. We have completely updated the electrical, plumbing, windows, HVAC, furnace and hot water system. Added French Doors and skylights. We removed an obsolete two story brick furnace chimney which recaptured significant square footage. We have reconfigured and optimized most of the rooms and removed several load bearing walls to create an open floor plan. We refaced our fireplace in honed granite and replaced the fire brick. We're in the midst of finishing half our basement which will include a wood burning fireplace adding 610 square feet of living space. We also plan on renovating the attic into a living space with heating/cooling, new windows and skylights as part of phase two. Thus far there is no challenge we have thrown at Jeff that he hasn’t been able to address. He’s a consummate professional, honest, reasonable and the quality of work is outstanding. Further, the communication is excellent. He is always available (Saturday and Sunday if need be) and provides nearly daily updates with the progress of our project. I know I was thankful for the feedback I received from homeowners when making my contractor decision. I’m happy to do the same for someone else."

"I was told that the fee to simply come into my house to assess my furnace (that was not working) would be $260 on a Wednesday afternoon... and I was told this fee would not be absorbed into the work if I chose to have it done. If this company charges such an exorbitant assessment fee, I could only believe they would inflate other fees as well. I hired another local company for half that fee to assess then repair my furnace. Shame on Heritage Home Service."

The technician apparently arrived about 1 hour before the window, claimed to have called me but left no message and simply left with no availability during the actual 4 hour window that was promised. This is poor service and I have no heat. Unbelievable and unprofessional."
