"My experience with Omar and his team were amazing! They are fast and clean and extremely professional. I had a huge problem with asbestos tile throughout my whole house that I thought was going to be a nightmare for my new project, but Omar saved my house! The pricing was amazing for the work that was done not only did he remove the tile but the drywall and insulation as well. Now I can start fresh with a clean slate and build my home. Omar helped me out with identifying and remediating some mold as well and he did this because he wants his customers to have the cleanest house to live in and cares for his customers health and safety. If you have any second guesses on what to do with asbestos or mold, don’t cover it up, don’t put a bandaid on a problem, call Omar and you will have peace of mind in your home and you will find it is worth it. If you need a reference or want to learn more about how Omar helped me ask Omar for my cell number I will gladly give a reference. "

"Showed up and broke a piece of siding off without any protection on (and me standing right there). I was kind of surprised. Testing result came back quickly. Overall, would advise more caution for their field men when handling asbestos materials."

"I called Peter from Five Star Enviromental to come over to inspect for mold in my home ASAP. Because I had water damage. He accommodated me with an appointment right away. What I like about Peter was he is very honest and thorough with my inspection. Not many people are these days. His prices are reasonably. He contacted me right away with the results and wrote up my report. What I like also about Five Star Environmental is they won't make you spend more money than you have to. For example Peter would ask you how many samples would I like to test because each sample goes to the lab and they charge for it. He didn't want me to spend more money than I have too. He said to me save your money. Peter is a mold inspector. He can smell and tell if there is mold right away. If I ever need to test for mold again. I would definitely use Five Star Environmental again. Thank you. Peter."

"Dominick was great! We hired Dom for a buyer's home inspection. Called back the same day within hours. Polite on the phone and patient. He was very thorough and spent about 2.5 hours inspecting a 2800 sq ft house. He was testing the radiator in the middle of summer. He was up and down the ladder going up to the roof. Very knowledgeable, knows the codes, and produced very detailed inspection report accompanied with pictures. In addition to identifying a potential issue, his report also explains the both the cause and potential solutions. We will certain hang on to the report for future reference to keep up the maintenance. Dom spent an hour on the phone afterwards to answer our questions after reviewing the inspection report, he also anticipated some of our questions therefore was a great resource in estimating the cost to address the issues. Again, very patient and did not rush us off the phone and this is after he was already paid. In fact, we will probably have him come back to the house for inspections on regular basis to ensure continued safety and comfort. Competent and reliable, highly recommended!"

"Chuck and Noah, are amazing to work with. They communicate extremely well and are honest. They did a home inspection Saturday morning for me. Thankfully I asked them to do a full septic inspection, not just a dye test. They found the septic system, needing major work. To the point, my bank won't approve the loan. the house failed before they even got inside it. When trying to explain to the home own, (who is also the listing agent) what was wrong, and why it needed to be fixed. All this lady did was rudely speaking over him, to the point she was mad at him for finding it. She would ask why it failed and as soon as chuck would begin to explain, she would start yelling over him, how it was fine. She must of ask half a dozen times for him to explain, for her to start arguing as soon as he spoke. I don't know how Chuck was able to be so calm and professional. I would have hit the lady, getting in my face like that. Chuck, was instead calm, kind and professional. "

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Valley Stream, NY

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
