"David and his crew did an awesome job for us. They poured a slab for our 20 x 20 building and a sidewalk! We also had the building wired and they did that for us. We were ð ¯ % satisfied with the work. They were always respectful and very caring about the detail of their work. They will be our go to contractors when needed. Thank you David, Buster and crew!!! "Overall it went okay, not great. I paid a lot money and I feel like I didn't get my money's worth. <br />  I was expecting mature bushes to be planted. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it all fills out the wide gaps of mulch. They didn't leave my driveway clean when they were finished. When my wife asked them to pressure wash they tried to charge us extra... Ridiculous. I called to get it corrected and it wasn't addressed. It made me upset because Brian said he would ensure pressure washing would be done after they were done. Guess not... I'm in Afghanistan and it was extra difficult to get a hold of anyone. They're website does not cite an email address. Very frustrating. <br />"

"We went with quartz countertops from the  Cosmos line.  There are so many choices!   <br />  Artisan Granite stocks many gorgeous granite slabs in the yard. Several really pretty pieces I had not seen before in other stoneyards.  <br /> It was a big decision to choose between granite/quartz. Note that Artisan's prices are very competitive with the area vendors, so the price for the different products wasn't that much of an issue. I always try to buy local, if at all possible, rather than from big box stores that start with the letter "L".  <br /> After much research and agonizing, I decided to go with ordering a quartz countertop.   Linda at Artisan Granite is  very sweet & knowledgable.  She guided me through the process of choosing a sink, ordering, measuring, installation etc.  Their guy came out the next day and measured for the pattern.  The very next week -  it was all done!    <br /> <br />"

"If I could give Jim a grade of A+ I would.  First of all, Jim actually returned my call when I contacted him for an estimate.  I had contacted a number of businesses before I joined Angie's List and only received one call back.  Jim returned my call promptly each time I needed to talk to him.  I can not say enough about his professionalism.  His estimate was very thorough and I was not surprised by any hidden charges at the end.   His "suggestions" were right on and I ended up getting Jim to tile my kitchen backsplash which I had not originally planned to do at this point.  I had read a previous comment from a customer that was not very complementary to J & L Tile Works that made me hesitate but I am so glad I went with my instincts.  Ladies, if you want someone that you can trust not to "stick you" J & L is the person to call. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Wallace, NC

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
