"Randy was just awesome! He was very knowledgeable and very kind. I called him around 10 am after having a new refrigerator delivered. I explained that I needed some help with the water line that connects to the ice maker/water dispenser. He explained over the phone what likely needed to happen and then told me that he would get back with me in a couple of hours. I gave him my address and info and sure enough--2 hours later he comes, takes a look at what I need done, went to the hardware store, and bought what was needed. He then came back and installed everything and spent a good deal of time talking to me about installing our gutters. He's very friendly and I would not hesitate to call him again if we need work done on our house or remodeling. The quality of service we received definitely exceeded the price we paid to hire him. Randy, if you see this, thanks again very much for all of your help today!"

"My garage/basement wall had water intrusion and cracks. Frank Sullivan came out and provided me with available options and estimates for each solution. I chose to have I-beams installed to the floor joists and seal the cracks. The work was explained before hand and I knew what to expect. The work crew finished in under 4 hours and now I have peace of mind about the support for my home and dry basement for years to come thanks to the warranty. The work crew was excellent."

"Fantastic! Lomonte P&R breathed new life into my house with an interior paint job and refinishing my kitchen cabinets! I'm typically a DIY type of guy but after seeing the work they did on my friends house and hearing all of the good things they had to say about Lomonte P&R, I gave them a shot. Best $ I have ever spent! They were very courteous, punctual and responsive. Extremely knowledgeable too. Even took time to offer a few ideas for a DIY project I had going on. Contractors can really be hit or miss. Lomonte P&R is a solid hit. I feel like I can trust them to do what they say they will and perform to my (high) expectations. Trust is a big deal to me. Since they earned it, I am hiring Lomonte P&R back to finish my basement and remodel one of my bathrooms. Finally, a contractor I can rely on!"

"<p>George from Midwest Technologies helped us from start to finish. We discovered mold growing in our closet from a leaky pipe from behind the walls and ceiling. He assured us from the beginning that everything would be resolved and the mold would be completely remediated. He was always available for questions. Very professional and knowledgable. He took care of the removal of the moldy drywall and started the mold remediation process right away. He contacted the plumbing company United Plumbing and took care of everything for us. He and his guys came in and protected our hardwood flooring in the entry to ensure no stratches or messes while plumbing work was done. Both the secretary and George have been very nice and helpful through this process. The only thing I was dissappointed in was, there were basement boards that could have very easily been placed back up but this was not included in the initial scope, it was a seperate charge just to nail our boards and trim back up in the basement. </p> ."

"He was very courteous and prompt. He handled himself in a very professional manner. His team, too, was very courteous. His carpentry skills are excellent in some very basic ways. He made me a beautiful bookcase at the end of my peninsula. I could not be more pleased. However, he was not able to perform all the he said he could. In my estimate he was to build a pull out shelf to hold my cookie sheets and other larger bakery pans. he could not build it. Also, in the estimate he was to remove my wall oven, build shelves in the opening and build doors to cover the opening. After he removed the oven he did tried to talked me out of the shelves - which honestly the storage from these shelves were key in the entire remodel. He did however, complete them. Shelves are nice, but when he finished the doors had a gap. In the estimate he was to use decorative glass, he however, used plan, very thin glass. I immediately re-positioned the hinges to eliminate the gap and replaced the glass with the glass he could not find."

"This project went extremely well because of ALH. We discovered the issue when we found water in the basement. We had several contractors provide estimates, but Allen, the owner of ALH, provided the most detail and suggested a plan that best fit our situation. After assessing the full extent of the issue, Allen provided a thorough itemized estimate for the work. The best part was the great communication with Allen as we prepared for the project. Once the project started, we worked with Rob and Jim. Rob kept us updated on project financials and Jim was the onsite manager who also performed most of the work. Similar to the scoping process, ALH was excellent at communicating with us about the project and engaged us for decisions as needed. They were also very flexible with Change Orders when they came up and communicated additional cost very well before they started the new work. For price, I was concerned about some charges during the estimation process, especially charges for managing subcontractors. However, as we worked through the project, I greatly appreciated ALH's management. Jim ensured that the windows and supplies were ordered and delivered on time; he also managed the stucco subcontractor when additional wood rot was discovered and managed the dumpster drop off and pick up. When the subcontractor picked the dumpster up, their truck leaked hydraulic oil on the driveway. Jim and Rob worked with the dumpster company to make sure the oil was taken care of before they left. Excellent company and I recommend them to anyone who wants a contractor who delivers quality services and communicates very well with their customer. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Warrensburg, MO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
