"We used Radon Abatement Services for our basement. The radon levels were slightly over the EPA recommended limit. We mitigated the radon as part of a larger basement renovation. Radon Abatement Services worked with our General Contractor and did a great job. Radon levels are vastly reduced now as a result of their work."

"<p>I think I found them on Angie's List. They have been fantastic during our home renovation process. I keep putting them on hold, but I have built a relationship with them and they have been so patient and good throughout the whole thing. They have come out multiple times to help me with our previous contractor and current contractor for the remodeling. They have been great. They came out, met with my new contractor and it cost me nothing. They have been in constant contact with me regarding the status. They prepared for the states when I asked them to be ready to do the asbestos abatement. That was a part of the first stage of my remodeling project. Their pricing has been very reasonable. They did an assessment not just of the cost for the work, which they revised based on what the insurance company had told them to change. They have engaged with the insurance company, they have engaged with my remodelers and have come out without even charging us. The work that we have paid them for was just one time testing. This was the second test versus the first test we had. They do asbestos testing and asbestos removal.    </p>"

"I called Rodolfo on a Friday because my radon mitigation system (installed by a different company) was in need of repair. He was able to come by the next day, on Saturday morning, and quickly identified the problem and was able to fix it."

"Inspector was very professional and personable, and performed a very thorough inspection. He provided a detailed report (except for the radon test which requires more time) on the same day."

"Daniel performed radon testing and did a home inspection for a home we are purchasing. He was easy to contact and always quickly responded to our emails. He was very thorough with the inspection, encouraged us to ask questions, and explained everything he was doing. The day after the inspection, we received a detailed report (with pictures) that listed the discrepancies and suggested repairs. We received the radon test results 2 days later. Daniel was very professional and was great to work with. We highly recommend him for home inspections and would gladly use his services again. <br />"

"Robert is FANTASTIC!!! The regulations that a typical home inspector must work by are not as thorough as most home buyers would prefer...luckily Robert is not quite typical. He is thorough to a T exploring the home from basement to chimney top. I would hire him for every home I look to buy in my future. Very confident and happy with his work."

"I'm a first-time home buyer, so this was my first experience with having a home inspected.  I really appreciated the inspector's thoroughness and patience.  He spent a lot of time explaining everything to me, including problems with the house, as well as general things I should know about the house (how to turn off the water and gas in an emergency, for example).  He also showed me things to look for in the future.  For example, one of the shower head s had a yellowish/orange residue on it, and he explained that the particular coloring indicated bacteria and recommended that I have the shower head replaced and keep an eye out for similar problems with the other shower head in the house.   I really appreciated getting a good explanation of what is going on with the house, rather than just having him tell me to replace the shower head with no explanation as to why.  After the inspection, the full report, with lots of details and pictures, was in my inbox in less than 24 hours.  I feel a lot more confident now about buying this house. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Warrenton, VA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
