"Sean and Mike with American Deck and Patio have been a joy to work with so far. They built a beautiful patio in the rear area of my house and are working to complete a deck rebuild. They have been easy to work with and very responsive throughout the planning and building process and I would absolutely recommend American Deck and Patio to anyone planning a similar project in the Washington, DC area."

"Matt's crew completely renovated our kitchen & two upstairs bathrooms. In the kitchen they removed all old cabinets, fixtures, counters, and both tile & wood flooring. Then they installed new cabinets, travertine backsplash, granite countertops, new sink & fixtures, new hardwood floors, relocated ceiling pot lights, & painted all walls & trim. All work was top notch!
For our two upstairs bathrooms, his crew completely removed all tile & walls from the shower & bathtub areas; removed old tile flooring and cabinets; removed outdated medicine cabinets. They installed new walls, tiles, tub, shower & bath plumbing fixtures; installed new cabinets, sink/countertop, sink fixtures, tile flooring, and new light fixtures; and painted all walls & trim. Our master bathroom is small with a shower only, so we were very determined to find a way to add some additional storage without taking up room. Matt was able to find the space and add an additional tall cabinet inset into the wall that turned out perfect!
They also replaced the hardwood flooring in the front entryway and painted all walls & trim in our living room/dining room. Upstairs they installed beautiful crown molding in the master bedroom, painted walls, and installed new doors on closet & bath.
Matt is the nicest guy ever and so easy to work with. He was very helpful with suggestions and patient with all our questions and changes. His crew was hardworking, skilled, and professional. Matt was able to craft some amazing solutions to design issues that we encountered (such as fitting the larger double sink we wanted into the (smaller) base cabinet we had purchased). All work was completed within his 2 week estimate, and he was always very responsive to calls. Our new kitchen and bathrooms are amazing and we are very happy with the renovation. We would definitely used him again for any additional work we need!"

"I am currently using General Remodeling for a bathroom renovation, and have used them for a powder room renovation as well. In both cases, I generally purchased the fixtures and the "designer" elements myself and they were responsible for the "guts" of the projects. Vidas is the project manager and he is excellent, always on top of things. He will call frequently to check on the status, update me on outstanding issues, meet with me at any time at tile shops, lumber yards, etc. To select certain items. Konstantine is the sub-contractor on my current bathroom renovation and he is also excellent, a very good craftsman. His English is not perfect (and my Russian is awful) but we manage to have very informative discussions during and at the end of each day, reviewing what he has done, any complications that might arisen, his suggestions for how certain details can be addressed (e.g. how should the base molding in front of the shower wall be addressed - he clearly shows me my options and lets me select from there). The current project included removal of a bathtub with shower door, toilet, vanity, light fixture, medicine cabinet, mirror. The tub area has been converted into a larger shower with 1" glass mosaic tile surround, bubble glass floor, a shower seat (also covered in glass mosaic). The walls have been smoothed, spackled, sanded and painted. The Robern recessed medicine cabinet has been installed. A ventilation fan has been moved so that is better located over the shower. A new light fixture has been installed over the vanity area. Everything looks great so far. The glass mosaic tile work takes a long time to layout, cut, set/install and clean, but now that's complete so I expect the rest of the project to be great."

Customers say: Quick response

"Jimmy (the owner of MESCO) managed to build a second level addition onto our rambler house. It was fantastic that Jimmy's team accomplished the main structure of the second level including setting shingles within just four days! A big surprise to both my family and our neighbors. Of course the remaining work is also being done in a amazing speed and quality. Now the major project including the second level addition, the garage addition and the beautiful large porch are almost done within just eight weeks. MESCO team is a powerful and productive team! Jimmy himself is very nice, professional, enthusiastic, client orientated and reliable. He really enjoys and dedicates himself to his career and business in the construction area. I would strongly endorse and recommend him and his business MESCO to potential customers."

"It went very well. Adam Ford was the Representative. He was informative and provided useful ideas and suggestions without the hard sell. After the meeting, we decided to put our plans to replace our current patio on hold for one year. We hope to follow up with Maryland Sunrooms/Four Seasons Sunrooms in September 2015"

"From first contact to install, the professionals at Econize were responsive and professional. Meg designed our closet and went above and beyond. I was dealing with a family emergency, so she took care of the research that I had planned to do regarding hampers that would fit in the space without my asking. One afternoon there was an email from Meg with a variety of options that would fit. Kevin at Econize stayed in contact to let me know the status of install timing. Upon install, they are prompt, courteous and quick. In half a day, I had a beautiful new closet. They cleaned up so well after that there was no other evidence (besides the new closet) that they had been there. Don’t hesitate to use Econize… you will be happy! I forgot to mention the best part, no coupon clipping or haggling… they give you the best price up front. Thank you Econize for a great experience!"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Washington DC, DC

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
