"The work went well. The technician showed up early and was able to finish the job considerably earlier than the time window quoted. Identified a problem with the furnace inducer motor but noted that replacement should be covered under warranty. Also noted water leak in furnace exhaust line. No problems noted with air conditioner. Took and email pictures of key components and observations. Total cost with tax was $262.40. Got ~ $50 discount by combining furnace and air conditioner inspection in same trip."

"Quote was explained well. I was given a couple of options for the furnace and the thermostat. After deciding which one the work was scheduled and the team arrived to install the unit on time as promised. They covered hardwood and carpeted areas and left the work area clean when they left. They could have done a better job of explaining some of the features on the thermostat, but the person I dealt with on the quote said he would be glad to help out if needed. Once I had a chance to read the manual that was not necessary. Overall, very happy with the work, the product (Lennox) and the firm. I would use them again."

"Outstanding service! First of all, my technician was right on time for the service call, which is much better than some of the other businesses I’ve used in the past.I was thoroughly impressed by his knowledge and efficiency. He quickly pinpointed the problem and sourced the part I needed. I would rate First Choice 6 stars if I could! I definitely recommend to anyone in need of quick, honest service!!"

"Bob and his team were very professional. They arrived at my residence on time and spent more time than expected due to a need to replace the existing PVC venting pipe to a larger diameter. Overall I am very happy with the service performed by Bob's team. I definitely recommend his team to whoever needs heating and cooling service."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Waukesha, WI

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
