"This is my first review on Angie's List, as well as the first time I have used a service provider from the List. I have three garage doors, and one was making an awful sound and not closing all the way. My fiance found someone online, Overhead Garage Door Co. (www.houstongaragedoor.com), and we scheduled an appointment for someone to come out. The appointment was for eleven to two, he showed up around 2:30. The man they sent was I suppose a salesman, but he seemed absent-minded and uninterested. His instant diagnosis was that we needed a brand new door because all the parts were worn out. He saw a crack at the top of the door, and said he could replace the panel but it would be a better deal to replace the whole door. When I asked him to look at the other two doors, he gave the same diagnosis. Brand new doors. He spent some time calling back and forth with the office, muttering to himself and complaining after he talked to my fiance and wasn't given an immediate yes to do the install. <br /> WHICH brings me to the wonderful service I had today with ABC Doors. My fiance and I discussed it in the evening, and I just didn't feel comfortable using this company or replacing the doors without getting a second opinion. Plus the guy seemed unprofessional. So I logged on to Angie's List and contacted by email both ABC and Southwest Garage Doors, both of which had been highly reviewed. ABC emailed me back around 7.30 this morning with a number and a name to call for service. I called him, made an appointment for 10.00 a.m. that I ended up having to push back to noon. Nelson called to confirm as soon as I made the appointment, then called to let me know he had arrived--at 12:05. He instantly went to work, bracing the cracked panel and fixing the middle structural piece. I asked him to check out the other two, we discovered a cracked panel on the third door, which he fixed as well, cutting a piece of metal to size as he had done with the first door. He came extremely well-prepared. Then he oiled up the springs of all three doors, and even programmed our car buttons, which we hadn't been able to figure out, showing me how to do it for future reference. He knew immediately the manufacturer by the sound of the doors, gave me lots of facts about the door manufacturers. I thought for sure this would cost a great deal, at least several hundred dollars, given another company was going to have me replace the doors. When the total was a hundred and some change, I was floored. Now all doors are much softer, the broken one is fixed, and the car is programmed. Could not be happier with my experience or the repair gentleman, Nelson, who came to help. <br />"
