"We were looking to refresh and update the look of our 21-year-old kitchen and master bathroom for resale but did not have the budget for replacing the cabinets. Our actual cabinets were still in great shape, but the outsides looked dated and had some problem areas. We opted for refacing, which puts a new surface on existing cabinets and replaces doors and hardware. We also replaced our laminate countertops with granite and under mount sinks. After comparing other companies, we chose Kitchen Tune-Up. We worked with Mark Levy, who directed and arranged the entire process. He explained the procedure step-by-step. We made our 50% down payment in mid May and our final payment in mid August. The entire process took a little longer than we expected. There was a point at which we believe we got “lost in the cracks.” Jim did the actual refacing and installing and his work was very professional. He took great care to satisfy us. He always made very efficient use of his time and cleaned up afterwards. In the process, we had to provide the new kitchen faucet, which we had already bought, and then choose the granite and sink from BBG in Newport News. We also drove out to Richmond to choose which granite slab we wanted. When the granite was being installed, only two people were sent. They were obviously struggling to maneuver 800 lbs. of granite into place. We did have to pay extra to have some sheetrock repaired after it was damaged by the granite installation in the bathroom. We also had two more cabinets refaced in other bathrooms. Anyway, both the kitchen and master bath look really great! They just look brighter, newer and definitely more up-to-date! We are very happy at how it all turned out!"

They were on time, very polite and got everything on this big job done by 3 pm that afternoon. They cleaned up behind themselves, even vacuuming the floor around the new shelves. "My wife wanted a dressing table between the two vanities. I wanted large mirrored medicine cabinets mounted in the wall above the sinks.  Ron quickly came up with a proposal that incorporated these features.  Ron helped us decide on the decorative molding design for the mirrored surround.  Midway through the project, our contractor informed us that the medicine cabinets would have to be surface mounted due to certain exterior wall issues.  Ron quickly came up with a design alteration that nicely integrated the surface mounted cabinets into the whole.  We were invited to visit Ron's shop several times to review and approve the construction as it progressed.  Every item was made and painted off site in Ron's shop.  It took Ron just a few hours (all in one day) install the entire project. <br /> Ron was very professional, did what he said he would do, kept to his schedule, and worked seamlessly with our contractor. <br /> My wife and I are very satisfied.  We will be mentioning his name when we show off our finished bathroom to our friends. <br />"

"Issue #1: Started at first meeting in October 2014. Salesperson did NOT and consistently DID NOT HEAR what i was describing to him. Even with a wood sample.  He kept going on and on and the quality of their work. So, to save $10,000 in buying new cabinets we decided upon this option. <br /> Issue #2: Another person came out to finalize the measurements. Apparently Salesperson #1 did not LISTEN to what we wanted with replacing the drawers. They were just going to reface them. This would have left the drawers looking and working unbalanced and uneven and interiors being worn and ugly compared to the rest of the  "new stuff".  Salesperson #2 said it would be $450 extra to replace all the drawers with new ones. Wow. Ok. I needed them to work and look good. My old drawers have become crooked - since they were installed in 1988. I don't know WHY Salesperson #1 didn't suggest that at the initial meeting. <br /> Issue #3: We were to receive samples of the wood we chose and the color we chose. At the initial meeting, we told Salesperson #1 that we wanted a stain with grain showing, not a flat paint! We said this at least 3 times. What do we get as a sample????? Yes, a FLAT painted piece of wood with no grain showing. So, it takes another 2 1/2  weeks to get another sample. <br /> Issue #4: Approved sample. It is now the end of November! They said they wouldn't be able to come install until January! Yes, it took 3 MONTHS for this process start to finish. I could have received NEW cabinets in 6 weeks. <br /> Issue #5: Installation time. They had to build a new cabinet for over the refrigerator. It was clearly CROOKED! The bottom of the cabinet was 1 inch wider by the time you got to the top of the cabinet! AND where  the inside hinges were there clearly was a mistake and was all GNARLED up on the inside! HOW could a "craftsmen" leave such an obvious mess of a creation and not expect us to NOTICE??!?!? Seriously?!  It looked like something a high school shop student did.  We told them to replace the whole thing <br /> Issue #6: They did not tell us during the initial visit that the build-ups of the cabinets to reach the ceilings were just FRAMES! The interior and the back (wall exposed) were not finished. Now the inside of the top shelf of my cabinets are the ugly burnt orange color of the previous paint job. I could have painted that if i had known it would be showing!!!!!!! <br /> Issue #7: Upon final inspection 3 of the drawers were WAY off color to the rest of the cabinets. It looked like they were missing a coat of stain!!!! So, they ordered and replaced them  2 weeks later. <br /> Issue #8: We were provided a can of paint to paint the inside edges of the inside of the frames of the cabinets to match the outside.. really? I have to actually do work  on the cabinets i paid  $15,000 for ????!! <br /> The craftsmanship was definately was under par for what they told us. It seemed like they just wanted to get in and out without really taking a step back and looking at the work. Things still are uneven, but can't do anything b/c the laminate is glued down.  Salesperson didn't even follow up the week the workers were here to check how things were going. Once he received the check, he didn't care. <br /> If I had to make the decision over again, i DEFINITELY would have gone with NEW cabinets. I could have received them in 6 weeks, instead of a total of 3 1/2 months, consistent color, better workmanship and a lot less headaches. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"overall, we are very happy with our cabinets.  the installer, greg, did an excellent job.  the staining was a bit off on a couple of the cabinet doors, and Cabinetry with TLC was responsive.  they ordered replacements from the manufacturer, and greg installed them for us.  my only issue with the company is that our salesman was difficult to get a response out of.  i'd have to email or call several times before he would answer my questions.  but all things considered, we are satisfied with the outcome. <br />"
