"Kevin dropped by to provide a free estimate; he was punctual, polite and immediately identified the source of the problem. Project bid was provided on time and Kevin was patient and very responsive (email) to all my questions. The price wasn't the lowest out of all the estimates I got, but what was suggested made most sense for the situation. 

Work was scheduled for three weeks later and of course, it rained the entire Thursday and Friday it was scheduled to be done. The rain stopped on Saturday and Lonnie and his guys showed up and worked through the weekend, finishing late Sunday afternoon. They were professional, cleaned up well after themselves, always had one guy on site (while others took breaks). It rained again Sunday night and my basement has been relatively dry so far.

Lonnie was great, he was professional and didn't rush me whenever I had questions. I would've appreciated more communication though, as they didn't let me know they were done for the day (on Saturday) and I had no idea they would be back on Sunday to continue the work (The office had indicated the work would be completed on Monday).

Update on August 6th, 2015. Six months after installation, water started coming into the basement again. Upon closer inspection, the two drain boxes were installed incorrectly and dirt was filling and clogging the drains. Kevin came by and said he would replace them for us. After calling several times over a month (no one seems to answer the phone or return messages anymore), a date was scheduled three months out. I understood how busy they were as we've had a very rainy spring. Work was scheduled for August 5th. They called the day before to reschedule for a rain delay, which is fine. Today is the day they were supposed to work on the drain boxes; they said they would be here around 8:30am. It is now 11:30am and no one is here and no one has bothered to call to update us and once again, no one is answering the phone."

"I hired Foundation 1 after receiving their quote and 2 other similar companies for a drainage mitigation issue in our backyard. "We aren't completely done with the remodel but I'm getting off Angie's List and wanted to give a review for Done Right before doing so.   We gutted our master bathroom (10x12).  A custom shower is being built, a free-standing tub will go in, knockdown on the ceiling, new vanity, lights, plumbing, flooring, toilet.  It is a huge job. As with any contractor there are pros and cons.  I will try to list them as best I can.

Pros:  We were about to give up hope of finding a good contractor until we found Shawn (owner). By then we had an exact idea of what we wanted the final product to be.  He walked through it with us and was very detailed.  He submitted a bid and we found it reasonable.  Other contractors were outrageously high or so low that their bids didn't make sense either.   I was able to go to several of his projects to preview his work and was very impressed with his attention to detail.  Tile work is his specialty although he does a lot of other work himself (not plumbing or drywall). He subs out other jobs.  His knowledge of remodeling is extensive.  He has foreseen some logistical issues and given alternatives.  He also is very good at helping find suppliers.  He has relationships with cabinet, tile, plumbing manufacturers as well as anything else you need during remodeling.  Because of those relationships, he can get contractor discounts.  He has always come to me to discuss things when there is any doubt or options I should consider.  The work he's done so far has been top notch.  He is also extremely friendly and trustworthy.  He has a key to my home.  A  few misc. things - he donates as much as possible to Habitat for Humanity so we can have a tax deduction.  He lets us do as much work as we want to save money.  When we tore out the bathroom he explained things to be careful of beforehand for our safety.  His bid is listed item by item, labor and materials, so you know every detail of what you're paying for.

Cons:  The biggest con we have are delays.  The most problematic one was that the tile we ordered is on back order.  That wouldn't have been a problem except he started our project anyway so our two to three week project isn't done and it's been a couple months. While he's detail oriented, he also seems to have too many irons in the fire or something at least when it comes to ordering things.  Sometimes he says he is coming and something comes up.  I have a feeling that's pretty common practice among all contractors though. It's hard to write something bad about a guy that overall is really, really good at what he does...just not on time. 

Overall, we are happy with Shawn's work.  While the delays have been incredibly frustrating and annoying I am confident that his final result will be worth the wait.  I was able to get exactly what I wanted in this remodel.  His pricing is reasonable but his quality exceptional.   My suggestion if you choose Shawn is for you to take more control over the timing - you make sure all items needed are ready to go before he starts.  I guarantee if you look at his work you will definitely see quality others don't have."
