"From the initial visit to the house until the final inspection of the work LevelLift made this experience as painless as possible considering I had to have my foundation supported. We had filed an insurance claim which was denied as the 'settling' had occurred over 50 years and was considered normal (verified by the MD Insurance Commission). The insurance company recommended an geotechnical engineer test the soil which we did. The engineer report found our soil to be soft and recommended piering of the back wall of the house and removal or a large portion of the basement floor to be replaced with reinforced concrete supported by piering as the only means of preventing future settling. LevelLift was up front from the beginning that the house could not be leveled, only stabilized. I requested an all inclusive estimate not wanting to have to deal with additional contractors and wanting a guaranteed price. They answered all my questions, were not pushy and when the work was being done were nothing but professional and courteous. They discovered a sewer pope leak and cleared the area prior to the plumber arriving so all the plumber had to do was cut out the old pipe and replace it cutting down on the cost of the plumber. They added two additional piers to the basement from the initial proposal at no additional cost. They brought in two concrete subcontractors to give them proposals on the concrete work. The one that did the job worked with us to solve a problem that developed since the plumber had to raise the sewer pipe higher than expected to ensure proper drainage due to the settling. I would recommend them to anyone unfortunate enough to need their services."

"We've been working with Affordable for a couple of years now. To put it lightly, we have the basement from ****. When they arrived, we had some water in the basement and they quoted us based on their normal pricing. Once the concrete came up, we couldn't believe what we were dealing with. It's a constant flow of water that required two sump pits and an insane amount of work to install our drainage system. Every time they tried to dig a pit it would backfill with sand and water- they had to dig this up painstakingly- foot by foot. We thought for sure we were in for additional costs, but they stuck by the original estimate. Since then, any time we've had an issue or a question, they are quick to answer. Poor Kelly and Bobby probably recognize our number on the caller ID but whenever we make a call or send an email, we always get a response- usually with a visit on the same day. We highly recommend this company for their honesty, customer service, and quality work."

"Initial project: Grade B.  Overall went well.  Only reason for a B is that they noted that they were going to put a trench around my laundry sink as a means to prevent damage if it overflowed.  But when they came back to do the job it wasn't done.  Overall I haven't had a drop of water since the install so that is very good.  The rep was Adam. <br /> - !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this wouldn't have been an option in the first place as it could pose a local issue (gray water pumped outside the home. <br /> <br />  Warranty: Grade A. Adam (rep) noted to me that no matter where (not through windows or above obviously) water came in (walls or floor) that the warranty would cover it.  Well you don't get the warranty until after the job... and guess what?  Water up from the floors isn't covered.  Not cool. <br /> - !!!! UPDATE 20121125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this condition is covered.  My mistake. Grade changed to A. <br /> <br /> Basement windows: Grade F.  Called them and had them out to estimate putting in a basement egress as well as the other basement windows.  The rep (Brett) came out, measured, etc.  Then nothing.  I called.  I called.  The customer service team told me on numerous occasions that the "president of the company" was going to call.  He never did.  Eventually, a sub or partner of theirs called me and provided me a quote over the phone (for the egress - the didn't do the other windows).  The quote was blind and didn't take into consideration any of the data that Brett collected during his visit.  This ordeal was a TOTAL waste of my time. <br /> - !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM, he noted that this rep is no longer with them and that he should have provided an immediate quote for the windows.  The only time the sub should have called is for the egress...  <br /> <br /> Customer service: Grade C.  They provided a mold remediation treatment as part of the basement water proofing.  One of my walls not is showing signs of something.  So I called.  Nothing.  No call back.  Nothing. <br /> I regret going with this company.  I should have bit the bullet and spent the extra $$ to go with their competition. <br /> - !!!! UPDATE 20131125: Spoke to Jeff Johnson GM.  He will be out in 2 days to treat the location and noted he will install a hose into my dehumidifier so that it drains into the system.  <br /> - !!!! UPDATE 20131127: Jeff was out, assessed the situation and provided a clear path to resolution.  I have homework but his team will be out to solve the problem. <br /> - !!!! "Expert House Movers brought a crew of 6-8 & came in late August 2013 to start the process of raising & moving the house.  My husband had done all the prep work of disconnecting the utilities & removing the furnace, etc. They dug access ramps to the old foundation/basement with bobcats.  They poked good sized holes around the foundation so they could put in steel beams and jack up the house.  Our foundation was from 1917 & built from old creek gravel cement, so it was pretty tough.  It took three & half days to jack the house & move it over the driveway.  It seemed really fast to me.  The only thing to fall in the house was a picture off the piano.  We still had access to the house through a tall ladder to get clothes, etc. that we needed. <br /> We took over the process of arranging excavation, concrete pouring, and carpenters with more local contractors.  Expert does have concrete people & others they use in the St Louis area that know exactly the requirements needed for the new foundation. <br /> After the basement was poured & cured (curing takes about 3-4 weeks), Expert returned in October 2013 to move & set the house.  They had been in contact with the concrete man for specifications, but there were no slots for the beams when setting the house down.  A concrete worker had to come & cut those slots.  We had a carpenter on hand to finish the sill installment & make sure the sills for the permanent beams was correct & set the support posts in the basement.  We also had a friend's tractor help Expert's bobcat pull the house back over the foundation.  While all this was going on, Expert was jacking and moving supports & placing slider beams & raising & lowering the house.  The process was complete in about 2 1/2 days with care & precision.  Some of the cracks in our house even disappeared.  Great job guys. <br /> Our carpenters returned to build a staircase & some other requirements.  We are working on re-connecting utilities & returning the furnace, water heater, etc. to the new basement.  We plan to move back into the house in the first week or so in November 2013.  It's been a long process, but well worth it.  Made possible by Expert House Movers! <br />"

"If I could use only two words to describe Craig Kripas (owner) I would say trustworthiness and excellence. <br /> He and his workers (foreman Edmondo, and the other three) were hard working, honest, and did an incredible professional job for a fair price. They know their business, (Check out their website, it is educational, allowing you to read up and understand what Craig and crew are going to do to waterproof and make your home safe and healthy), and they do not cut corners on doing it correctly. <br /> I was married to a subcontractor for 18 years, and this is the first professional (Craig Kripas) whose work-ethic and excellence are comparable to my former husband's- who was without equal in his line of work: cabinetmaking and finish. <br /> BEFORE: Craig came and crawled through my crawlspace, took photos, uploaded them unto his laptop, and explained what needed to be done. He sent me an estimate that night via email. My crawlspace had cracks, leaking water, was moist, insulation was wet and falling down, the light plastic that the former owner had laid in the crawlspace was not taped at the seams, and had pools of water where the ground underneath it was not level. There was junk thrown in my crawlspace, no sumppump or electrical hook up, and mold. <br /> AFTER: Craig and crew were able to finish in 3 days, which was a window when the weather held out a little less than that time in early February. They  leveled the crawlspace ground, reinforced any floor supports that needed (in my 1938 bungalow), dug trenches and laid drain and installed the sump-pump, then went on to shovel and level rounded stone gravel (that does not puncture the 6 mil plastic overlay), to make it easy to crawl through. I went and inspected with Edmondo, and crawled through the crawl space. It was clean, dry, and even cozy, although a little clausterphobic for my taste. <br /> They dug window wells, and replaced the old ones, repaired the brick on the exterior around the window wells, repaired the brick around the entrance to the crawl space, built a new hinged hatch and installed it, graded the landscape so that the water ran away from my home, extended the downspouts, and probably a hundred other things that I didn't notice. <br /> OVERALL: I have never been more pleased with work done, as well as their polite, thoughtful approach. (I did not feel pressured in any way, Craig is soft-spoken, and explained and gave me choices on how he could fix the problem/ and costs per task, if I needed to do it in stages or only wanted to do the minimum).  <br /> Kraig Kripas and his crew are professional, trustworthy, do excellent work, and delivered beyond my expectations, which is a difficult thing to do. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"
