"After reading the many great reviews I decided to have my home inspection done by Inspect It Like a Girl. I talked to them about the things I really wanted checked and was assured it would be done. When I arrived at the home for the debriefing I was shocked to find out the instructor had broken items in the home to include the garage door by holding it open and breaking an outlet cover. I was then given a multiple page report with several simply false items on it to include stating there was leak under a sink covered by a bag. In fact there was a bag taped to the pipe with a tool to shut off the water to an ice make. If the inspector that of touched the bag it would have been obvious. She said the gas fireplace did not work because she did not know how to use it. Most items listed had a statement to have another inspector do an inspection on that item. I was under the impression I had paid an inspector to do this inspection. The there was the roof that was not inspected because her ladder broke early that day. Finally I was told they could do VA ventless fireplace inspections. Know after everything I find out they are not licensed per the VA’s requirements. So I’m off to get another inspection. If you want someone to come and look for cosmetic problems or tell you what items you should get a real inspector to come see they are great. But I can turn on lights to see if they work, listen to see if an appliance sounds funny, or look for cracks in a wall. I did contact the owner multiple times about the disappointment I had with the inspection and finally the fireplace letter not meeting VA guidelines. I never got an acceptable response. Now we have ended with her informing me I will need someone else to do another inspection."

"Though the gutters were cleaned in December after the leaves had fallen, this spring of 2024 the gutters were over flowing!! I texted David regarding this issue he said they check the downspouts using a leaf blower. This spring I noticed no apparent debris from the downspouts being blown out. David said that my house is surrounded by trees and the downspouts are probably blocked again. This is 4 months later!! What would be blocking the gutters from draining. He said he'd come out but would have to charge me again, again for a service I paid for that wasn't completed properly in December. Would not recommend or use again."

"They did not have to dig a trench around my house. They used a machine to inject chemical into soil. The technician told me if I dug up shrubs (disturb the soil) to let them know, and they would retreat that section. Also when new pine straw was added let them know. I use this company for my Qtrly pest control also."

FAQs for asbestos testing projects in Whitfield, MS

Asbestos appears as long, thin, or curled mineral fibers that are not visible to the naked eye under normal conditions. Homes constructed before 1989 are more likely to contain this material, so a professional inspection is essential. Because asbestos identification requires specialized techniques, having a certified inspector assess your property is the safest way to confirm its presence and protect your family’s health.

Free asbestos testing services do not exist. You can purchase testing kits online for $30 per unit, and these kits include lab fees, return shipping, consultation, sampling media, and the final results. The results from a kit are less detailed and accurate than those provided by a certified asbestos testing professional. Since collecting a sample exposes you to harmful fibers, hiring a professional is essential to ensure safety and accurate testing.

Receiving asbestos test results takes one to seven days, but different labs offer varying turnaround times. When expedited processing is arranged, the laboratory completes analysis within 24 hours; standard processing requires up to two weeks. Hiring a certified professional ensures that all samples are collected correctly and results are provided without delay, safeguarding your home throughout the process.

Home insurance doesn't often cover asbestos testing and removal. Many policies have a clause called a "pollution exclusion," which means they do not cover indoor pollutants like asbestos. However, your insurance company might cover something like asbestos siding removal costs if it is released due to things beyond your control, such as storm damage.

If a DIY project or accident in your home releases harmful fibers, you must pay for the test and removal.

Yes, you can legally inspect and remove asbestos in your house as long as it's a single-family home and not a multi-family unit. However, the EPA strongly recommends hiring an asbestos abatement pro since testing can be dangerous.

Pros have all the right tools and safety equipment, and you risk breathing in the fibers by taking samples yourself. They also know how to collect samples and safely dispose of materials properly.

Asbestos encapsulation is a process that seals asbestos-containing materials with a protective barrier to prevent the release of harmful fibers. It serves as an alternative to complete removal when full abatement is not necessary. Encapsulation costs between $2 and $6 per square foot, offering a cost-effective option that contains asbestos safely when applied by a certified professional.
