"I called Juan for an estimate on Thursday and work was done on Monday. The workers were polite, fast, and thorough. I had larg3 amount of pea gravel under the deck that I decided to save last minute. The original estimate Juan provided was going to pack the gravel down and pour over it. The workers used their bobcat to move the gravel before pouring the concrete upon my request at no additional charge. After the work was finished the workers rebuilt the part of my privacy they had to remove for access and even cut my gate for proper swing over the new sidewalk. Later that evening Juan came by the house to make sure I was completely satisfied. The price was great and the project was done quick and clean. 100% recommend E&J for all your concrete needs! <br />"

"This is to update my (one star) review of June, 2024... Opp sent a foreman by to look at the crack in my slab (due to a control joint that was missed during original installation.) He agreed that a section of slab (∿8'x12') should be replaced. Dustin and his crew did a fantastic job of removing that area, careful to cut the slab at control joints so that once the job was done (and slab cures), there would be no evidence that there had ever been a problem. They removed the old, installed the new and were cleaned up & gone in one day."

"It was just minimal use of their services. I used them for a sprinkler system I had in the last house. I have moved from that house recently. They seemed to be very good. They sent out notices at the beginning of the season and at the end of the season as a reminder to set up appointments to have my sprinkler system checked out. The people who came out to the house were pleasant enough and easy to work with."

"<p>We did a kitchen remodel, which included relocating the kitchen.  Butler provided custom built cabinets, which are well made and we got what we ordered.  Overall, the remodel was OK.  Once it was completed, the sink started falling away from the countertop.  They did come back and fix it quickly.  </p> <p>Our heating/cooling vent was underneath the corner cabinet.  We were told it would vent through the base and wouldn't be an issue.  Actually, the corner cabinet gets hot or cold depending on what we have running.  We sometimes leave the cabinet open to let the heat or cold air out.  </p> <p>They also moved a door, but the base wasn't quite finished, leaving a gap between the tile and the base of the door.  They also left a small hole above the door in the drywall.  </p> <p>The microwave, coffee maker and refrigerator were put on the same breaker, so we kept blowing the fuse.  They did attempt to fix that, but we still couldn't run the microwave and coffee maker at the same time.  Eventually, we had to pay an electrician to re-wire the kitchen.  </p> <p>After a few months, one cabinet door hinge pulled away from the door.  That was an easy fix.  </p> <p>The price was the main reason we went with Butler; they were significantly less than others, though we did have to spend a bit more to fix the electrical issues.</p> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Wichita, KS

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
