"Dave provided an estimate and explained how the work would be done. The job was scheduled promptly. His crew arrived on time, and they were professional, explained what they were doing, and answered all our questions. I like that they washed the deck with water only, not chemicals. We definitely recommend Dave and will hire again."

"It is rare that I will take the time to review a business like this, but with the amazing experience we had, it seemed almost sinful not to write one. We were in dire need of a new deck as our old wooden one had begun to rot. It was not only awful to look at, but it was quickly becoming dangerous. I decided to bite the bullet and save myself future headaches by going with the Trex product. I researched several companies approved to sell and install this product, and I liked what I read about Warner's. However, not having many good experiences lately with contractors, I was wary. I scheduled an initial appointment with Chris. He was very accommodating right off the bat in getting the right day and time we needed. He could NOT have been any nicer, more professional or more forthcoming on what we could expect. I liked the product very much, and I liked Chris' attitude and dedication to being a perfectionist. I hired him the same day. Unfortunately for us, we found Warner's late in the spring, so we had to wait until beginning of August before our project could start. It was WORTH THE WAIT. The crew that did all the work - Reed and Joel, to be specific - were FANTASTIC! Not only were they very nice, very funny and generally good guys, they were also very, very good at what they do. They were efficient, they were always on time (actually earlier than I would've believed), and they kept at it even in the rain (as long as it wasn't a downpour or lightening). They even treated our dog as part of the family and asked if she could be out with them sometimes. It was adorable.. "Can Sunny come out and play?" LOVED IT! On top of all this - they were helpful, professional and wonderful when an unexpected problem came up due to how our previous deck had been installed. When they removed the old deck, they realized the part of the house it had been up against was never properly sealed, and there was mold and rot on the outside wall. I went into a panic, and they were great about calming me down. Not only that, but they were able to fix it for us as part of the job, so the delay was minimal. I will be forever grateful for this. If you have been burned by contractors who are incompetent, unreliable con men, go for a breath of fresh air and choose Warner's. Is it cheap? No. However, it is more than on par with the cost of this product. And you GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Faith in humanity restored."

"McMaster Painting recently painted the interior of my condo including the ceilings, trim, and doors. Their work was excellent! Since my condo had not been painted for 12 years, there was a lot of prep work; Dings had to be patched; 12 years of hair spray build up had to be removed from a door and other items that come from living in a place for 12 years. The crew had a great work ethic and were very professional. They showed up on time each day and cleaned up before they left each evening. They understood that I was living in the condo during the process and made sure the place was livable during the painting process. I am thrilled with the results! I would hire them again without hesitation."

"Well--the summer of 2016 was very wet and it was difficult for there to be three or more days without rain. I appreciated their not ignoring the need for the wood to dry out before they painted. I know they were as frustrated as I was yet they were always cheerful and kept in touch with me as to their plans"

"Deck Medic did an outstanding job, their restoration process was superb. The first visit they power washed the house and deck. They removed all the old finish and cleaned off and treated the mold issue on the deck. The deck looked amazing, even without it being stained yet.. It looked like brand new. We were so surprised and pleased; we have used 2 other companies previously and they never even got close to the results of Deck Medic. The second visit was repairing some of loose boards, fixing the stairs, sanding the surfaces and adding the stain. It looks outstanding!. The entire crew were hard working and very conscientious. Especially Jerry who worked until after 7pm to finish all the staining. He even crawled on his hands and knees to do the area under the porch, which no one else ever did. Remarkable job, company and employees!! Highly recommended!!"

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Wilmington, IL

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
