"I have had not-so-great experiences with chimney sweeps in the past, but this company is outstanding! Damon was very friendly and professional and offered great safety and maintenance tips. Fee was very reasonable as well. I will feel confident hiring this contractor in the future and recommend this company to friends."

"I was very satisfied with the services I received from Lifetime Chimney! The crew arrived on time, they were very professional, and they took the time to answer all my questions which I really appreciated. My home was treated with respect and left clean after the chimney sweep. Definitely money well spent. I have referred Lifetime Chimney to my family and friends with full confidence."

"He inspected the chimney and advised it didn't need cleaning just a good fire with dry wood to clear the cobwebs. Pointed out would need bricks on roof tuck pointed and sealed but we could wait a while. I took his advice and fireplace works great. Will definitely hire again."

"I left a message on Scott's answering machine and he returned the call four days later and I think came the day after to scope out the job, arriving w'in the time frame he predicted.  Scott told me the approximate costs, explaining the price differential if I wanted a stainless chase cover, but did not offer a written contract.  He returned 24 days later exactly on time and installed the materials.  I am not complaining, just explaining that he seems to be very busy and this is the scheduling and business practice to be expected. <br /> In removing the chase cover he disturbed an insect nest neither of us knew to be there.  Scott did not panic and continued with the installation.  The triple-wall air-siphon chimney (1978) is no longer manufactured and Scott had to do considerable custom sheet-metal work to make the current SS cap type work.  He seems to be resourceful and competent to keep old installations functioning but I must admit that I have acrophobia and I was not right up there two stories watching closely.  From the ground the number and type of fasteners seemed adequate. <br /> His trucks are well-maintained and the ladders heavy-duty and fitted with self-levelers.  Good equipment makes a soothing impression on middle-class customers. <br />"

"I liked Roofmasters a lot.  They did great work and the finished product was beyond my expectations.  I couldn't even tell that they were there performing work since their clean-up was so diligent.  One area that I would recommend for them to approve upon is communication.  I would have liked a more up-to-date status of my install date vs. me having to reach out. <br />"

"Exceptional service. Went above and beyond. Replaced a section of duct that another company gave me the run around about. And he wasn't even at the house to do that specifically. Duct cleaning was fantastic. Very helpful, prompt, courteous, fair price. 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, perfect 10."

"Home Fire Stove was excellent in service and installation. The entire process went smoothly, professionally, on budget, and the installation staff even finished getting my woodstove in and ready for use in less than the estimated 5 hours I was quoted. Store personnel were readily available for any questions I had and responded quickly and cheerfully. A+ all the way!"

"My girlfriend had requested service for her natural gas fireplace that has been having issues ever since she moved in to her place seven years ago. Jim was extremely thorough and was able to get the fireplace working the way it should. He was extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. If I had any type of fireplace, I would highly recommend The stove Doctor and request Jim."

"Bottom line was the process and experience was good; bid price was horrible. Lamont Bros, who I've worked with before a couple years ago, were again prompt and professional. I know they do impeccable work which is why I contacted them. Both Daniel and Joseph were personable, professional and informative. They spent appropriate time surveying the chimney and attic, taking measurements, and explaining options and process. It was enjoyable. They asked what I wanted to budget [as low as possible! :)] and I said $20-25k knowing it was very low but with a budget in my head of about $35K to $40k. They said 20-25k wasn't really reasonable and said just a bathroom generally runs about 20K (which I've also heard from numerous contractors and friends who have had the work done) and that what we were talking about would probably be around 40K, depending on finishes. So I was expecting something in that ballpark. Instead, the bid was $90k to $115k. More than twice what was discussed and what I had budgeted in my head. I am friends with architects and engineers. my family knows contractors. I work for the City of Portland and discuss remodels, new houses, and other construction projects all day long. Some of our good friends just had a top tier contractor do a large remodel that included removing the wall between dining room and kitchen in a classic foursquare house, installing new support beams, putting in new high end hardwood floors on first floor (1000sf), remodeling and reconfiguring first floor bathroom in order to install a new exterior door from kitchen to back of house and building a second story deck that door opened out onto that deck - all for approximately $50k. All this to say the bid was extremely high. I get that our housing market is crazy and the cost of construction is expensive and increasing. Contractors have their choice of jobs and as such can price accordingly. And sure, there is an opportunity cost to taking on a specific job over others. But a bid of $90k-$115K seems like price gouging and taking extreme advantage of the current construction climate. I can only take it as a way of saying they'd rather do other, larger jobs for wealthy clients who don't have concerns about costs."
