"Benchmark AC was excellent to work with. Their prices were competitive with other AC companies for a Lennox system. They are very knowledgeable and did great work. While they were installing my new unit they even noticed a kinked suction line on my second AC unit (my home warranty company previously sent out a horrible AC company and they kinked the suction line while installing a new coil). Luckily Benchmark caught that before damage was done to my second AC Unit. Because of there professionalism and great work, I was able to get my home warranty company to agree to let them do the fix for the bent suction line. Once again, they did a great job! I highly recommend Benchmark AC and they will be the only AC company I use from now on!"

"We own a home-based business which relies heavily on our computers operating efficiently. We have had a service contract with another computer repair business for several years. Recently when we were having problems with our computers, we tried contacting our service contractor multiple times. He never responded. Feeling frustrated, I contacted James at North Alabama Technical Services and explained our situation. He instantly came to our rescue. He "cleaned-up" our computers and took care of all the problems we were experiencing. He went above and beyond to help us in our dire time of need. We would strongly recommend James and his company for computer service needs. We have now retained him on a service contract and are looking forward to working with him in the future."

"Finally an honest Solar company!! I went through several companies trying to get quotes for one of my properties, either they were ridiculously expensive or they didn't return my calls. A friend of mine referred me to Mega Sun and I have to say I am very pleased. Within a couple days from the initial phone call I already had an estimate and once i decided to go with them the installation was completed in one week. Its been a little over a month since they completed the install and everything is working smoothly.

I was amazed at just how great the customer service was. I just want to say thank you to the whole team who helped out, I really appreciate all your hard work. Now I know you guys are the ones to call for all future jobs."

"By the time the service rep was contacted and he called us, we had purchased the part and repaired the air conditioner unit ourselves. We had hire the service company to do a complete service on the unit on June 23,2022. I would recommend Freedom Heating and Air to anyone needing service. They were very professional and did a thorough job. They explained what they were doing from beginning to end. We were shown pictures of before and after as they did the work. We will use them again if it becomes necessary."

"We called One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning and they came right out and they were more than on time.  We called them on a recommendation of our neighbour because we had decided that we were not going to call the one we were using.  We had a unit that had failed completely but it had two years left in the guarantee. But unfortunately the guarantee was no good because it was not installed according to Code. It was out of guarantee the day it was installed eight years before.  We had called the old company that installed the old unit several times and they would work on it and it came to a stage when we had to change the unit. We decided to go with One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning.  They were so professional that they called a licensed electrician from a company that does the same kind of work and asked them to come out and inspect the installation of the former unit just to make sure that their guys had called it right. They came out and looked at it and I was there when they did their inspection. I asked them if they would install the air conditioner that was on here as I had the model number and all that.  He said the wiring used was not Code.  In fact he said it was way under wired. He wanted to know what happened to it. So I informed them that the pump had fused and he completed the sentence saying and the board caught fire. He then explained that it is typical of under gauge wiring. He told me that one cannot put in a new unit there unless the wiring that is there is replaced. Then they came up with an estimate what it would cost to install the unit to Code. They did not discover the bad wiring until after he started to install the equipment.  They then completely rewired that part of the house and they did not add that to the bill.  I asked them about that. Their reply to that was that they had agreed to do it to Code and since they had given me price for that,  they were sticking with that and maybe we would call them back. As for price, I looked up that particular unit that we got. They sold it to us at less than the average price. Absolutely we will use them in the future.  They gave me a list of three things I should do to avoid unnecessary calls or services. They are the only company we ever hired who advised us on that. They also called me back and reminded me of that, like don’t replace the filters every six months do it at least every three months.    Again if you use the very high end filters you would damage the unit because it would pull too h****** the air that comes through the house.  So use the cheapest filter.  They also advised us to put a unit inside the duct work that would help sanitize the air that is running through the system.  We noticed almost immediately after we started to use it, in a city where the night time temperatures were 95 and the air pollution here is pretty bad, that our eyes were not watering as much as they were, we did not have the respiratory problems that we had as long as we stayed inside the house.  There is no reason to stay inside the house all the time nevertheless it is different than it was before.  It was better and it is still is.  That one change was $300 on the bill and that was all it was that helped us feel much better.  Why didn’t someone else tell us about that? We are happy."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Woody, CA

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
