"In The Rough Stonework & Landscaping built us a beautiful greenhouse foundation that has knee-high stone walls and a cement floor. The floor has slight slope with weep holes on the low end, perfect for keeping the floor dry. They also put in a patio that wraps around the greenhouse and made it with a mix of different bricks/stones. Our greenhouse/patio is now a perfect place for gardening and lounging. On another project they made us a flag-stone patio with a stone stairway through the garden allowing easy access to our yard. In The Rough Landscaping does quality work with an eye for detail and they do it at a great price, I would highly recommend Lester Avalos and his crew."

"Scott and his crew have installed the most beautiful patio we could have imagined.  It is a joy to look out our windows to see how well the patio compliments the rest of our backyard.  Scott and crew started on Tuesday and wrapped the project up by Friday!  They were truly professional and have given us a beautiful outdoor space to enjoy for years to come.   <br />"

"We love our new windows, and we would highly recommend the company! Everything from the initial estimate/sales set-up through final installation has been so professional and well-done. We initially reached out a few years ago to get estimates on windows for the entire house (along with a few other companies), and with Craftsmen, we never felt pressured or like anyone wasted our time with an annoying sales pitch. We decided to wait, and we reached back out at the end of 2020 to get updated estimates. They still had all of our information and were very helpful and prompt at getting updated totals. We had some concerns with ordering (as it was in the early days of the pandemic) depending on regional closures or delays, and they were reassuring and flexible with our plan. During the installation process, everyone was so professional. Often with outside contractors, people default communicating with my husband, yet I'm the one coordinating, so it can often be frustrating, but that was absolutely not the case with Craftsmen. Everyone was very kind and respectful no matter who they were talking with. Besides just getting all of our windows replaced, we also had a large wall cut out and a custom window added, which we were a bit nervous how that would go with our stucco, and it turned out beautifully, and it was such a nice relief to know that no matter what - the crew would handle it. It was quite the undertaking and a very large investment from us, but it was so worth it for how beautiful everything looks inside and out and how seamless the process went."

"Chris came out initially to take a look at the back yard and to discuss the project. I had asked him to put together a design based on some initial ideas and requirements of our own. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about installing patios. We discussed some issues with needing to improve water run off from the back of the house. We were in contact numerous times before start day to refine the design and choose pavers and lighting. Chris was always very responsive to my emails and calls and always pleasant to talk with. On start day, he showed up with his crew and a slew of machinery to excavate and prepare the base for the patio. He worked with me to mark off the perimeter and shape of the patio. When the size of the patio ended up bigger than what I had initially sent as measurements (my error), he didn’t complain- he just said he would order the additional pavers and we’d adjust the final invoice. I had asked him to try and not rip up the surrounding lawn too much and so they laid plywood and made sure that the skidsteers and other trucks stayed on that one small area. This was a real sign of their professionalism to me. I was amazed how the patio took shape in just 1 week. The crew worked through blistering heat and never complained. At the end of week 1, the patio was installed minus the final 4 cap lights since we had to wait for the lights to arrive. I make a partial payment to Chris for the work completed and then 1 week later, he came out and finished the lighting and worked through the electrical hook-ups to the house with our electrician on that day. We used pavers from a vendor who Chris uses and I was pleased with the look of what we chose. The pavers were installed well and Chris used polymeric sand to hold them in place. The job site was cleaned up every night and they moved excavated soil and aggregate base and we never had a “mess” at the house. Part of the project involved them ripping out a concrete landing outside of our adjacent garage access door and I never saw the broken concrete because they just hauled it away. Overall the patio looks incredible and I wouldn’t have asked for a better experience with an installer than what we got with Chris and his crew. I felt that the pricing of the project was very fair and that Chris and his guys were dedicated to finishing the patio as quickly as possible."

"There was a misunderstanding and the worker came and started pulling weeds, and I thought they were going to bring a weed cutter. But overall, they get straight A's across the board from me because they didn't even charge me for the misunderstanding and I thought that was pretty nice of them."

"From my initial call with Beverly, to the sales guy, Rich, to the installer, Tom, I don't think it could have gone much smoother. Everyone I encountered while working with Sandau was friendly, respectful, professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend these folks for any work you may need done in your home."

"Final Grade returned to our home to replace a few plants that had not survived the winter. <br /> They were prompt and professional and performed the work without any issues. <br /> And the honored their original pricing - no additional charge for the follow-up. <br /> At the same time, we added to our landscaping, having Final Grade install edging.  Great job! <br />"

"Shelly came out in June to provide a bid. The amount was higher than the other two bids I got, but what really impressed me was the detail that she provided about what exactly would be done and why it needed to be done just that way. The crew, headed by Jeff, did a great job on my driveway. The men were friendly and informative, as well as professional and hard-working. They did the prep work on a Thursday and by the time they finished my drive already looked so much better I was thrilled. They uncovered some "interesting" details about the old driveway and fixed everything that had been done weirdly or for reasons it was difficult to fathom. ;-) I had friends over Sunday evening and everyone was impressed with how good it looked. The edges were clean and the surface area was even increased slightly, the grading was set up better than the old driveway had, and they even hauled away a pile of yard brush that I'd stacked at the edge of the drive. Talk about "above and beyond"! They returned on Monday and, again, very focused on the job, while also friendly and informative. The work progressed quickly, but I observed their consistent attention to detail, which I appreciated. The finished job improves my driveway 150%. I know the picture I took looks photoshopped, since there's not a flaw to be seen, but there was no "trick photography" involved! (see below) Gary called the day before each job to make sure the timing worked for me, and the crew was right on time both days. I feel confident that this is a company I can trust if there are any problems, but I do not anticipate that there will be. I simply could not be more satisfied!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Wyoming, MN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
