"I am so happy that Angi connected me with Designing Home! The owner, Kaveh, is everything I wanted in a contractor: professional, responsive, reliable, and highly skilled. We are very happy with our newly remodeled bathroom and cannot wait to have Designing Home return for additional projects in the future. I highly recommend that you hire them for your projects as well."

"I did not have a chance to use this provider because he called and told me he was injured prior to our scheduled date. When I offered to postpone for a number of months (I was not in a great hurry to get the job done - it was a cosmetic issue), he declined saying that he would be in Florida at that time. He recommended that I contact Angie's List for a full refund. I appreciated his letting me know right away (our scheduled work date was for 3 - 4 weeks away) so that I could find someone else. I want to state that I feel uncomfortable providing any type of rating as he could not do the job, but was required to do so. I scored him at a B as he was good with getting back to me (we played phone tag for a while), but cannot honestly rate his work. <br />"

"Company is great. Listened to what I wanted, which was a lot and provided each service exactly as I wanted. Remodeled and moved appliances, added tiles, ordered and put in cabinets. Needed no one else to come in. Was all done by this company!! My kitchen is perfect now. Thank you David!!!!"

"Cornerstone did not have the lowest estimate for the kitchen but they did have the best design ideas that incorporated what we wanted in our kitchen.  The first day of the job, the project manager came early, reviewed the plans and gave us his contact info in case of any questions or issues.  From the demolition to completion, they showed up when they said, did the work and cleaned up after themselves. All of the the guys working on the kitchen took great care and pride in their work.  They were very exacting in their standards and did an excellent job.  We love our new kitchen, it looks even better than we expected. <br />"

I am willing to go to any extent to help IGA construction become to most known that is the least I can do for all they did for me at a very low price for work that If I went with another company or contractor I would have paid triple plus some and the out come would have never ever been what it is now as I meantioned most beautiful work and a dream come true to have a home that I never thought was possible all thanks to IGA construction Matt as well crew."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Cape Coral, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
