"They dealt with pulling up flooring, swapping out our cupboards, and took down drywall. He also cleaned everything in our home; he washed our walls and paid to have all clothes/furniture laundered. He also notified us that the water heater, faucet, and garbage disposal were leaky so that we could have those replaced to avoid further mold issues. I decided to go with him over two other providers based upon his extremely detailed and comprehensive estimate.

"Our fridge is 12 years old, and when the ice cream melted we panicked and thought we'd need a new one. But first we consulted Angie's List and chose Coldapplianceman Corporation to do our repair. Mr. Brown responded to our call immediately, but couldn't make it until the next day due to the lateness of the hour. We scheduled to be the first appointment of his day, 8:30am. Unfortunately, he had to wait for some parts and was delayed an hour. Once here, Mr. Brown was efficient, and after listening to me describe the problem, got to work diagnosing the problem. Functioning easily in a very tight space behind our refrigerator (Mr. Brown is not a small man), he quickly eliminated the dreaded compressor possibility and climbed out from behind. Next he checked the temperature control board, where he found the problem. Luckily, he had the part in his truck, which he installed and the fridge has been working great ever since. We would definitely call him again and have already recommended him to our neighbors.

"Grand Improvement and Construction did major, major renovation to my Stony Brook house, essentially the whole house was renovated: a new kitchen, two and a half new bathrooms, a laundry room, two rooms combined into a master bedroom, new staircase, central AC installed, finishing an unfinished room etc. etc.  My wife and I talked about renovating the house for a long time but never did it. Sadly my wife died suddenly, and I was left to have the renovations done myself.  I used her life insurance to pay for the work. My brother helped with the plans and I hired a person to help me with all the decisions as to fixtures, appliances etc.  Gary was recommended by someone I knew from work and the recommendation was confirmed by his stellar Angie's list recommendations.   Gary did much of the work himself with a skilled assistant and several general workers.  Gary did all the construction and the plumbing and all the tile work.  He also served as the general contractor to manage the hiring of the AC installers, the painter, the electrical work, the staircase and railing construction and installation the wood floors etc.  These people appear to have worked with Gary for many years.  He was always at the house to supervise their work.  I am completely satisfied with the renovations.  Gary is extremely knowledgeable and innovative with all aspects of home renovations and has very high standards for quality work.   There were many times, that Gary’s standards were much higher than my own.  It would have been very easy for a person to have taken advantage of my somewhat limited knowledge about home renovations.  The final costs were very close to the original written estimates, we decided on several upgrades as the job progressed. Gary treated the work as if he was renovating his own home.  He and his coworkers were also completely honest with respect to all my possessions.  I can recommend Grand Improvement and Construction without reservation.  The cost was for the entire job ~80K went to GI&C"
