"Owner Brandon Hunt came on the job himself to see progress of replacing and capping leaking gas lines. While there, I mentioned my high water bill. Without any additional charge, he adjusted the valves in both toilets to stop using so much water. His crew was professional, very considerate and hardworking."

"They called me the night I put my request in at 7:45pm which was amazing. They came out to our house the next evening and tested our gas lines, inside and outside. The found 2 leaks, got supplies and repaired the issues. They stayed at our house until 8pm even when I said they could return the next day since it was late. They were wonderful to deal with. Highly recommend."

"They are a public utility. It affected our ability to get in and out of our garage for a while. They were doing as they were supposed to do. They went around periodically with their sniffer and detected a leak. They had to dig a big hole in the alley and redo some of the pipe work. They filled in the hole. I was out taking the dog for a walk and got a whiff of gas and I told my husband. He didn't smell anything but a day or so later the gas company came out to fill in the patch and somebody told them what I had smelled. They got their sniffer machine out and there was still a leak. I was impressed because they didn't blow us off. The guy said that their ears always perk up when there is a report that a female has smelled gas because we apparently have better sniffers. They did the repair and thanked me."

"I had to leave a message on an on call pager since it was a Saturday. He returned my call within 5 min and came to my house approx. 45 min later. He was very nice and knowlegable. It took him 2.5 hrs to unclog the kitchen sink. He wore covers over his boots so he wouldn't get dirt in my house. My plumbing in the kitchen was kind of difficult to work with so he ended up going under my house. The clog apparently was in the pipe up on my roof. I didn't know the pipes went up there. That didn't make any sense to me but he had seen it before and knew just what to do. I was charged a fee for just him showing up which was 95.00. He then charged $125.00 for every hr he was there. It ended up being $365.70 total which I thought was a little much for unclogging a sink. Other than the steep price the sink works great and I would call them again. At least I know the job will be done right. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Charleston, WV

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
