"We used Sonia for 2 condo renovations. After 20 years of owning a 2 bedroom condo on the gulf, we decided it was time for a complete renovation (complete as in gutting the entire place from floor to ceiling). We met with and obtained quotes from three contractors, including Sonia. Her price was in the middle, but more importantly in meeting with her we developed a quick rapport and had a sense of ease ... she was very easy going and had helpful thoughts and recommendations to compliment our plans. We were not disappointed. Sonia, Yanko and team were a pleasure to work with. Sonia's easy going personality that comforted us at the hiring stage never left. As with any complete renovation, surprises and hiccups occur, but none of it flustered Sonia. She was the same great person by the end of the project as she was at the beginning, very easy to work with and accommodating. We couldn't have been happier with the end product, just fantastic. And that's not the end of the story. A three bedroom unit became available in our building, and yes we decided to jump at it. It too needed a complete renovation. The only call we made was to Sonia who we quickly contracted with to do a complete gut job renovation on our new unit. Same fair price and same great experience with Sonia, Yanko and team. Again, we couldn't be happier with the end result and the newly renovated condo we are enjoying."

"We had a great experience with Cer Custom Renovations. The work was completed about four months ago, but I waited to share a review until after we had lived in the space for a little while. Our remodeling project involved finishing half our basement to put in place a bedroom, full bathroom, and a rec room–and we are very pleased with the results. The folks at Cer Custom Renovations did a great job (no issues at all!), and they were very easy to work with. The scheduling was clear, and they were communicative throughout. Our main objective in moving forward with this project was to create a space that would allow us to better host guests, and we feel that we now have it. I would definitely recommend Cer Custom Renovations to others."

"I liked Reid from the minute I met him. He was very professional & pleasant, something that is very important to me. He & I went down on a Saturday to pick out all the materials I wanted that he would pick up when the job was started and would be paid for later. He suggested a recess in the wall for shampoo, soap, etc...which was something I never even thought of & I loved the idea. He also suggested bars in two places, one for stability & one to assist with getting in & out of the shower. I had totally forgot about that. When the job was started, Reid and one other worker came to first tear the old bathroom apart.and then was given a deposit of $3000.00. He was paying for the materials ahead of time, which of course was not included in the price of the Labor so that was fair.  Each day I was told when they would be coming the following day & one day was even asked if they could stay a little late. It was courteous to ask & was just fine. However, one day They were supposed to show up at 10 am but didn't get here until 1:30. I never got a phone call. I wasn't home the day the job was completed & saw that one of the bars for the shower hadn't been installed, the toilet was leaking after it was put back & some of the materials had been left outside & in the garage. I did call him about this and he personally came out the very next day or maybe two days later, which was on a Saturday. He was very prompt about it. I was also told that he guaranteed his work for six months & to call if there were anymore problems. I had needed a track for my blinds adjusted at my house, which is right next door, & he did that for me at no extra cost. It was only a 5 minute job & I believe was done out of courtesy for the mix up with the bar not being put in the shower. I thought that was very nice. Some people would have charged for that.  The only reason I gave the price only a 'good' rating was because I didn't get any other estimates & had nothing to compare it to. I didn't find it too expensive but just my opinion. The punctuality rating was because of the day they were late and the fact that I never even got a phone call.  All in all I am very pleased with the work that was done & the shower came out beautifully. I am very glad I chose Reid's Remodeling for this job & would absolutely recommend his company. <br>"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Clearwater, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
