"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Master Bathroom Remodel. Last fall we decided to remodel our master bathroom. The original design was implemented in the early 90’s and included a huge jacuzzi tub, but with todays higher cost of living and efforts to conserve our natural resources, it was no longer practical. Also, the small, rectangular bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which was a space robber that sacrificed areas for actual bathroom necessities such as storage and counter space. A full remodel was totally warranted! As a designer, I knew that the floor plan would remain the same for the most part because the plumbing is already there and there are a few electric sockets to move around as well. The shower is small, and kept in place. It will be retiled (with a built-in niche to hold shampoo and soap bottles) with a new door and new shower fixtures. The whole bathroom will be torn out to the studs, and replaced with new cabinets and finishes. I went to a kitchen designer with my ideas to make a conceptual layout and elevations so that I would get measurements of what I wanted as an end product. I had all the materials ordered and ready to go. I now needed someone to implement the job. I get several bids on the project and we settled on Jeff Veglia. He provided us with a competitive price and was very helpful during his first onsite consultation. We found him to be down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and receptive to our ideas and needs, so we felt very comfortable choosing him to do the work. From deconstruction to finish, the whole project ran smoothly and on time. The price he quoted us was the price he performed the work for. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. His crew and sub-contractors were friendly, courteous, professional, and very respectful of us and our home; especially during these trying times with Covid issues. All the rough work and finishes were completed with the utmost professionalism, talent and an eye for detail. We felt comfortable in our home with his entire crew. We thoroughly recommend Jeff Veglia and his crew for any project you can dream up! They more than made every effort to have our project turn out as we specified. Jeff was available for every one of our calls and questions. We enjoyed the remodeling experience with this company and we are totally pleased with the results and cost. Dori Wroblinski and Michael Marley"

"John and his team are phenomenal. They responded to our request immediately, came out to scope the job which they completed beautifully in a matter of a couple of days. They fixed our grout issues, regrouted the shower and other areas that showed wear over time. They matched the existing grout perfectly. They are also incredibly neat workers - no mess at all nor clean-up necessary on our part. Would use again in a heartbeat!"

"Hired Bay State to take out my old bathtub and shower and replace it with a new walk-in shower. Fabio, the installer, and Daniel, his helper, were excellent! Very professional, efficient and took an eye sore of a bathroom and made it a gorgeous place to take a shower in now. From the beginning, everyone I dealt with were friendly, helpful and professional. Jim, the design consultant, helped us decide on what we wanted and how we were going to get it accomplished. The owner, Jen, was helpful in explaining some things we weren't too sure about and the girls in the office, Sarah and Destiny, were pleasant and patient as we had to re-schedule several times for various reasons on our own part. Bay State accomodated us at every turn. It's a rarity these days to find customer service like they have here. It was a bit expensive but you also get what you pay for. The craftsmanship was excellent and the product itself is top notch. It is MADE IN THE USA, also!"

"Chris did an outstanding job remodeling our bathroom. It was an old, small bathroom last remodeled in the late 1970's and in much need of updating and repair. He first gutted the old bathroom down to the studs, removed an old shower stall, removed the toilet, vanity, and mirror, and floor tiles. He re-built the room in a just two weeks, from start to finish. Chris went shopping with me to several local stores and helped me pick out paint colors, the vanity, the new floor tiles, and more. His taste is excellent. He recreated the shower by installing beautiful white tiles with a nice colored strip horizontally across the middle. The result was a very high end, clean, stylish look - the nicest bathroom I had seen, similar to the type you'd see in 5 star hotels. Throughout the whole process, he was great at communicating and quick at responding to our questions. He and his associates were true professionals - very friendly and committed to doing a great job. And the project was stress-free on our end. His work exceeded our expectations and we are impressed and pleased with the end result. We would highly recommend Chris to other potential customers, and we hope to hire him and his company for future projects."

"Rich is great to work with - responsive, knowledgeable, and careful. The way my attic rafters and trusses are set up (somewhat non-standardly, it seems), it was not obvious how to safely install the stairs without compromising the structure of the roof. He ran his plan by a structural engineer for a second opinion and got the thumbs up that it was a good plan. After that, the work was scheduled and completed in a flash. The stairs are very solid, and I'm delighted not to have to drag the step ladder in to climb through the little portal. We're already lining up the next (immediate) project, and I walked around the house with him - inside and out - pointing at future work. Rich has a wealth of experience, is clear about what he doesn't do himself (there's not much), and brings a lot of skill and creativity to the table. 3Gs are keepers!"

"Peter and Billy installed a mini-split a/c system in my home recently. There were 3 head units on 3 different floors. They arrived on time, discussed the work with me, and explained what they were doing when I would pop in to check on the progress. It was a two-day installation with rain on the first day and heat/humidity on the second. Throughout both days both Peter and Billy remained of good cheer, working efficiently, without a grumble about the weather. An electrician, Chris, joined them on the second day and completed his work quickly. He even took the time to tack up a dangling powerline in the drop ceiling of the basement that wasn't part of the a/c install. Mid-afternoon on the second day everything was complete. Peter walked me through the work they had done, inside and outside. He asked if I had any questions or concerns. I'm very happy with the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone who asked."

"When we started our plan of remodeling, the first thing we did was the complete roof replacement including kitchen vent & duct pipe installation to the roof, and new installation of attic ventilation. MMP did not only completed it just as agreed but also very efficiently. The crews were friendly, professional, and careful. The jobs were carefully managed and implemented effectively. I was impressed by Matt, who is the manager, and he does an outstanding job in managing the crews and the progress of the situation, and the communication was clear and always to the point. We then moved to initiate a search for a contractor of two bathrooms remodeling after completing the roof and attic vent, MMP was one of the many candidates. Matt has had not only the best idea and proposals but also shown an impressive & professional sense of evaluating the project accurately, including the possible structural modification as well as a competitive estimate of the cost of the build. His proposal included a rebuild of a wall of the bathroom to expand another one adjacent to it. Matt accepted to use my schematic design image (made with a software tool) and a spreadsheet list of the fixtures that I created - as many as fifty items including TOTO, Grohe, American Standard, Panasonic, and IKEA - to start the job (later changed some of them due to local plumbing code compliance) After beginning the bathroom remodel project, Matt shared what jobs will be done with us timely and efficiently via text so that we feel comfortable enough in knowing what is going on while living in the house of dust & noise from remodeling. The crews, Zen and Mark, were very courteous, extensively experienced, reliable, and friendly with excellent communication, sometimes with songs of 80s rock music. They ask me when more precise specifications are needed and notified me when they feel advance notifications are required. When a change is necessary due to inspection, they informed me and clarified what and why. I have never felt uncomfortable in living together with the remodel job which has lasted over four months. The completed two bathrooms were stunning, just as I imagined. Matt, Zen, and Mark have proved their strong & thoughtful expertise and lived up with my request patiently until completion. Great job. A home remodeling project cannot be successful without having a trusted partner, and my experience with MMP has led me to be glad to share my confidence that MMP has a credential to become your reliable partner to manage a construction project together."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Grafton, MA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
