"Basset Heating and Air Conditioning offers a great plan where the customer pays a reduced set price once a year to have their air conditioner tuned up in the spring and their furnace tuned up in the fall. Additionally, under the plan the customer recieves significant discounts should his or her air conditioner or furnace need emergency repair any time during the year. As usual, the Basset Heating and Air Conditioning front office called me to set up an appointment for my spring tune up. Mike called 30 minutes prior to arriving to assure me that he would be on time plus or minus a couple of minutes. The entire tune up took approximately 30 minutes. After the tune up was complete, Mike sat down with me and explained that my air conditioner was now 13 years old with a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years. He also explained that the EPA was phasing out the older air conditioners and that if leaks were to occur in my unit, the replacement freon was getting more and more expensive each year. He told me the approximate price of a new air conditioning unit and compared it to the price of continually replacing the freon in my older model. This was very good to know. Should leaks now occur over the next couple of years, I will definitely buy a new unit rather than throw away good money after bad.
