"Western Rooter to the rescue again! I had a small underground leak which appeared to be due to a bad sprinkler valve. A sprinkler repair company determined that it was not a bad sprinkler valve and thought it was due to a leak in the main water line. Daniel and Alex dug down to find that the leak was coming from a very old (at least 36 years) broken pvc line. After much testing and head scratching to try to figure out where the water was coming from, they decided to "chase the pipe." After much digging, they found that the very old broken pvc pipe was hooked up to a sprinkler valve that was buried 18 inches underground that had not been capped--only turned off. Roots from a nearby tree had opened the valve which caused the leak--crazy! The current sprinkler system has been the same one since we moved into the house in 1988. It took 36 years for the underground leak to occur!"

"My water heater of 11 yrs stopped working on a Saturday night. The gas company could not send anyone right away until Monday (sometime between 7am-8pm).  So I got on Angie's List.  I saw an offer for $49 service call from McLay's Plumbing.  Liked the reviews and number of years that they had good ratings in Angie's List.  So I did not hesitate to call them.  They were very helpful and sent a service person within 2 hours with a water heater.  The water heater did need to be replaced.  I was told they last between 7-12 years on average. The service person did a good job.  The only thing I did not like was that the warranty on the water heater.  It was only for 6yrs and it was an additional $300 if I wanted to extend it.  Also, the total price with the $49 discounted was $1395 which I thought was a bit expensive but I needed it so I agreed to it.  Other than that, the responsiveness and professionalism was outstanding.  I will call on McLay next time I have a need for a plumber.
