"Dave from Foundation Recovery came and did my annual basement inspection. I’ve had a sump pump - and gutters to direct the water to it - installed by them, for three years. And so far I’ve had no water in my basement. Even during the heavy spring rains in KC. Dave was very friendly and professional, and very knowledgeable about basements and their problems. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I appreciate the great service Dave! Thanks."

"My garage/basement wall had water intrusion and cracks. Frank Sullivan came out and provided me with available options and estimates for each solution. I chose to have I-beams installed to the floor joists and seal the cracks. The work was explained before hand and I knew what to expect. The work crew finished in under 4 hours and now I have peace of mind about the support for my home and dry basement for years to come thanks to the warranty. The work crew was excellent."

"I thought it went really well. I was happy they got it done within a week. After we got moved into the house, we started noticing problems with the paint. They cut some corners, missing some spots here and there, and they even dripped some paint on our newly-finished hardwood floors. It looks like they attempted to clean it up, but instead wound up stripping some of the new finish. Also, they weren't very helpful in walking us through the paint selection process. We were first-time home buyers, and wound up choosing a flat wall paint for our bathroom. Unbeknownst to us, flat paint absorbs lots of water, so we've already had to repaint the bathroom less than 5 months later. I didn't find out until after the fact that flat paint is the wrong choice. I figured when spending this much money on a job with a professional company, they would have maybe pointed me in the right direction for something like this."

"I was very happy with Craig's work, he was on time both for the estimate and for the job itself. He did the work quickly and I am very happy with the results. Additionally, while I knew that I wanted to change from the plastic to improve the durability of the roof, I wasn't sure what material would be best. Craig talked me through the options and was even willing to go take pictures and send them to me as the location he was getting it from was far away from me."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Warrensburg, MO

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
