"I recently hired Bob to do some work on my rental property in WF. Since I don't live in WF, I was looking for someone I could trust to do the work without my physical presence to check on the progress and quality. It's not easy trusting someone you never met, and only spoke with on the phone. Since I didn't know any contractor's in WF I used Angie's List to help me find someone. It was my first time picking on contractor with no other info than an Angie's List rating, but I couldn't see an alternative. I picked Kitchell because of the high rating, and after talking to Bob on the phone, I decided to give it a shot. I am very happy with that decision. Bob was great. He organized all the work I needed, worked with me on the payment from the Insurance company, and kept me updated with text messages and pictures on the progress very often. I was also pretty time limited as I had new tenants moving in within about 3-4 weeks. So Bob got everything organized and quoted within just a few days. I sent the first deposit, and if I remember right I think work started the same day. I did have a chance to fly in near the end and meet Bob in person and see the nearly completed work myself. I was kind of limited on budget, so there were a few repairs (kitchen countertop and fence) that I did not end up giving to Bob to complete. Nonetheless he went through the options with me for those repairs for different budgets, so I'll be giving Bob a call in the future when I do have the budget for it. Bottom line, I highly recommend Kitchell. If you are in the same boat as I was, and looking for someone you can put your trust in, then give Bob a call."

"We had our electrical service upgraded for the bathroom and water heater connection. We had the tank water heater removed and a tank-less water heater installed. Shower area was enlarged for walk-in access and plumbing was moved for this new configuration. Shower walls were installed from shower pan to ceiling as one continuous sheet on each wall. Shower ceiling was installed same as the shower walls. New shower fixtures and mixing valve were installed. New fittings for the sink and toilet hook ups were put in. New sink and toilet (purchased by owner) were installed by the contractor. New flooring was also installed.

"Went the extra mile to cut our granite countertops to accommodate a new stove. The technician even came back the next day to cut the granite after we found a double wall on the cabinet so we could remove one wall to get the added inches we needed!"

"We first met with Wally in April of 2014 and submitted our plans to the city for an in-law suite in Oak Ridge North. They rejected us twice but Wally continued to work with us to meet all of their requirements and refused to give us an invoice for the additional work. But we opted to pay him anyway. He spent more time getting the final requirements completed on the 3rd round than he did on the first and second round put together! . Wally was very responsive and provided everything needed to get it all approved. Wally is very reasonably priced and very reliable and responsive. He has a great tool that he used for online meetings where we could watch him tweak the design. If we ever have another need for an architect, Wally is our guy!

Butcher block countertops come in three main styles, each offering a unique look and function. Flat grain, also known as face grain, showcases the natural wood patterns, giving your kitchen a modern and elegant appearance. Edge grain is made from long, narrow wood strips, making it sturdy and providing a consistent grain pattern. End grain features a checkerboard pattern that is highly durable and perfect for heavy food preparation. Each style caters to different aesthetic preferences and usage needs, enhancing your kitchen's look and functionality.
With proper care, wood countertops can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years. To keep yours looking like new, clean up spills immediately and reseal the surface regularly—ideally once a month in the first year, then twice a year after that. Regular maintenance helps preserve the wood's beauty and durability for decades.
Wood countertops aren't hard to maintain if you keep up with regular care. Simply clean them with mild soap and water after use and reseal them monthly during the first year (then twice a year afterward). Using a food-grade oil or sealant protects the wood from damage. With a bit of routine maintenance, your countertop will stay beautiful and durable.
Wood countertops are sanitary with proper care and maintenance. By sealing them with a food-grade sealant and cleaning them regularly with mild soap and water, you create a barrier that prevents bacteria from getting into the wood. Always dry the surface thoroughly after cleaning to keep it hygienic and safe for food prep.
It's best to oil raw wood countertops once a month during the first year. After that, you can oil them twice yearly to keep them in good shape. If your countertop is professionally stained or sealed, you might not need to oil it as often. Regular oiling helps prevent drying and cracking, preserving the wood's natural beauty and durability.
