"Well after having oil heat for my old historical house for 55 years, I decided to get rid of the carbon fuel Removing the oil tank was the second phase of conversion. It was a solid iron above ground, but under back porch. Probably 90 years old. Solid. Pre- removal planning was seamless. Written estimate and basic contract safety rules sent in a timely manner from JS TANK REMOVAL. Day was hot day. Two men came. They went to work operating like a well oiled machine. ( excuse the pun)! They worked through the day, in the hottest part of the sunny day. I supplied lots of ice water to keep them hydrated. They have done hundreds of these removals and it was flawless. I Know the tank was heavy and old. . Solid iron. They siphoned off full tank of oil into big vats on their truck so no oil fumes or oil was visible. Not a drop or dribble anywhere to be seen. I had no idea it was going to be such a clean operation. They knew their business. Photographs sent to building/ compliance inspectors of DC GOV. Everything done by removers was transparent with environmental laws and with DC APPROVALS If removing an ancient oil tank and iron pipes can be thought of as enjoyable, then that was it!! So glad this was done by a great knowledgeable team. Or, it certainly could have been the other way. A nightmarish experience. It was a great job. So, everything completed. No mess. No smell. Holes in brick were cemented where thin pipes and feeds went to burner from tank. All gone. They swept up. Got their check for company and off they went into the alley. The job was done. No stress. A beautiful job by JS TANK REMOVAL. Later that week I followed up with office to say thanks. Also followed up with my new gas heat contractor, JM PLUMBING AND HEATING, who gave referral. I thanked them as well for their recommendations. One excellent heating contractor who advised me about the tank removal company. So happy with my new excellent modern gas system. The tank removal finished that project perfectly."

"The job was finished quickly and the construction debris was cleaned up. The basement was cleaner than when he showed up. The next time we had a major rain I got some water in the basement again. Steve came back as soon as it was convenient for me. No problems since then. His guarantee was real, there was no charge for rhe come-back.
I will be calling to have Steve come back to expand the drainage system when I have other work done that exposes another section of the basement.

"They checked our basement for leakage, and we discovered that some of the insulation needs to be removed due to mold. Also, we are in need of a vapor barrier and will coordinate with them to have this work done."

"Two employees showed up at my home on time to do an estimate on the few things we needed repaired to complete the sale of our home. The work performed is provided in detail. I was totally shocked at the cost for the repairs on the estimate but we went a head and agreed to having the work performed since we're close to our settlement date. I must say the work performed on everything except the electrical panel was top notch. I say this because the labeling of the electrical panel was completed by writing in Black magic marker what rooms were on each breaker. I was expecting at least to see printed labels used for what we were charged. I/we were expecting to pay $300 - $500 for these few things to be fixed but boy was I am thankful for the work performed but I wouldn't hire this company again only because their prices are outrageous.

FAQs for excavation projects in Leonardtown, MD

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
