"Although it cost me more than expected, Greg would not give up on correcting the balky furnace we have. He did a lot of investigating and found the culprit for the furnace mis-firing. GREAT WORK GREG!"

"Very nice, knowledgeable professionals. I received other quotes, but Hillcrest gave me the best price for comparable equipment. I'm very happy with my new system."

"Highly recommended. I hired Bruce to replace my ancient heating system, and he and his crew did the job with great care, skill, and professionalism. From my first contact with him, Bruce was patient, knowledgeable, and eager to make sure all my questions and concerns were answered and addressed. He and his crew were kind, considerate, and safe. I would have no hesitation about hiring Williams & Associates again, their services are outstanding."

"I hired northeast heating and cooling to replace my aging heating A/C system. This was a fairly large job, seeing it was a Multi floor house with two independent systems running both upstairs and the main floor. They also explained to me how adding a heat pump system to the house would help make heating my house less expensive during fall and spring. They replaced the entire upstairs duct work and reconfigured the entire house to run balanced and efficient. I couldn't be any happier with the work that was done in the house I would highly recommend them. Thank you Guy's for your hard work and dedication to get this system working amazing!"

"I hired East Coast to install a new high-efficiency heat pump in my house. The sales professional Dave suggested a Trane system that is efficient down to Zero Degrees and he led me through the process of getting a .99% interest loan to do the work plus a rebate. The system works great. We only had the system for part of December, 2020 and my electric usage went down by 36% with a savings of nearly $500 from my December 2019 bill. We have used East Coast for many years and have been very happy with them."

"They responded quickly and got the furnace operating quickly. I hired Aire Serve because Southern Connecticut Gas' customer service would not give me a technician arrival time window of less than 24 hours. I have a service contract with SCG but couldn't accept the idea I might have to wait a whole day for heat. When the Aire Serve technician learned that I had a service contract with SCG, he pointed out additional work my heating system needed and recommended I contact SCG to do that additional work to save myself money. NOW THAT"S AN HONEST BUSNESSMAN ! I highly recommend Aire Serve to anyone with a heating problem but no service contract. An honest company."

"The appointment was made within 2 days of contacting them. The technician (Brian) was punctual for a 7:30 am appointment. Once there, Brian did a fantastic job of communicating the services that he was performing and kept me very informed about the status of the AC system. He found some issues that had been previously overlooked by former HVAC technicians and provided me with a very detailed understanding of what the outlook for my unit should be in the future. I noticed an immediate improvement in the cooling of the house as well as the air quality. I can't thank this company and this technician enough for being so professional in the way they conduct their business. I would recommend them to anyone in need of HVAC service."

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Prospect, CT

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
