"I needed a lock and cover for my exterior water faucets to protect against water theft and vandalism. It was urgent, but Charles didn’t know this. He responded right away and ordered 3 locks /covers. As soon as it came in, he headed to my home within hours. The job was done on time, clean, very professionally and within budget. Because I’m out of town he sent pictures of the work that was done. I later disclosed to him about a contractor stealing my water. We talked about security measures and he recommended to me security cameras that I could use for that purpose that would work within my budget and that he would install for me. Mr. Stevens did excellent work. I would use him again."

"We noticed that our yard was getting pretty squishy on the side of the house where the septic tank / sump tank is located, so we looked around on Angie's List and found Thigpen's Septic Tank Svc, called 'em up on a Sunday or Monday I believe, and they said they'd have someone out first thing Tuesday morning.
Sure enough, Tuesday morning they called us and said they'd be at the house in 30 mins.  Probably about 20 mins later they arrived.
They didn't even have to drive into the yard like we thought they would have to; they had enough hose to run from the truck in the driveway all the way over to the sump tank... pumped it out pretty fast, and they began to inspect the sump pump and the wiring.
Before long, Jerry I believe it was, had assessed that the wiring had gotten wet due to a previous installation not being wired inside of a weather-proof box, and this in turn caused the pump to burn out.
They had a new sump pump on hand with them and promptly replaced the old one, also advising me on how it needed to be wired up properly.  Also gave me the warranty paperwork on the pump (1 yr warranty).
Everything was completed and wrapped up within about an hour.  Very professional, friendly, great quality of work, punctual, all the good stuff.
At first I was taken aback by the cost since I'd never incurred a sump tank / pump problem before.  When Jerry gave me the invoice of $959 I was thinking, wow, that's quite a bit more than I expected - I was thinking the total would've been more around $600-ish.
BUT, later I got to looking online and comparing prices, and it looks like they're right in the competitive ballpark.  On average people get this kind of work done for anywhere from $900 to $1200 (or more if the hole needs to be dug for a tank, etc).
The pump-out job was $300, and the pump installation / replacement was $659.
In the future I'll probably do it myself since you can buy a pump for $150-300 depending on what kind you need... save myself some bucks.  HOWEVER, if you've never done this, seen it done, or would rather just have a professional handle it, I definitely recommend Thigpen's!

"I called late on a Friday afternoon after my air went out. They came after hours, installed the new unit, and took the old one for evaluation & possible repair. A year later I called them back for another ac problem (different unit), and they came same day. Whereas another contractor told me to junk the unit, Greg replaced a small part & all was well. While with me the second trip, I mentioned several other small jobs, and they got right on them! The vent hood took a trip into the attic and up onto the roof, but they figured out the problem and solved it. This hood was damaged during Katrina (12 years ago) & Ive had several companies out to look/repair and nobody was able to diagnose problem. Now I have my hood back! Repaired two ceiling fans that I'd been told to junk, repaired a pendant light wired incorrectly by another contractor, and even replaced some light bulbs in my 12-foot ceiling-ed rooms! Excellent service, very fair pricing, good responsiveness, and just all-around nicefolks. I HIGHLY recommend!"

"Called about leak Sunday morning. Plumber came out Monday, determined it needed replacement and notified Choice, who approved claim and permitted plumber to order new water heater. Thursday new water heater was installed. Was kept updated every day by both Choice and the plumber. Workers left my garage clean and I have hot water. "The filters are only sold through air conditioning contractors; they don't sell them to anybody. I am a little bit concerned that this is the second time they have told me that I have lost some Freon. I had it done only six months ago before that. I couldn't find the leaks and I admit that it is an older unit. There is only about seven pounds of Freon and they added a pound. That is not a small amount. I am a little bit disappointed there. Other than that they came out and did a good job. They cleaned up and didn't leave a mess in the house. They were very efficient. They cleaned the outside area. It is only about the Freon and it is obvious that it is leaking. They did get things fixed and everything works fine after that. The people who came out and did the work were fine. But it is a little difficult to get things scheduled at times with the people in the office. We have had a number of people come out here. So far they have been the best. They come out when they say they would and they do a pretty good job. I don't find any tools left around or anything left open. They do clean up after themselves which is good too. I would probably use them in the future."

"Richard was flexible with us since the bank kept changing the closing date. It came to the point that the carpet was being installed a day after Richard's 2 men started. They decided to start working as soon as we closed on the house. Richard and his men bought the paint as soon as we closed and called him to confirm closing. The two men stayed that night until the 3 bedrooms were done( they chose to do so on their own, not us asking) since the next day the carpet was being torn out and replaced. They finished the painting and repairing the one corner siding piece before their expected finish date. The two guys who did the work were personable and professional. They kept us updated with their timeline. Richard called us during the work to see if there was anything we needed or concerned about. Next year we are thinking about remodeling the kitchen. We will be calling Richard first. He was professional yet made us feel like we have known him for awhile."
