"It was amazing! My initial call was returned almost immediately. Curtis came the same day to ***** the project and give me an estimate. He came promptly on the day and time we agreed on and was very respect ful of our home and did a perfect job, attentive to tiny detail so as provide an attractive fan. By that, I mean that in installing a wall switch, he provided the capability to switch on the fan and light separately. I couldn't be happier and would recommend Phase 2 Electric of Freeland, MI to anyone...and I will."

"Dave and his crew are great. They make sure you are happy with the work and they do quality work. The type of work when no one is looking they are doing the right thing. You can't go wrong with Elite. I was very happy with the final product and the price could not be beat. We had 9 window companies come out and he was very close to even the bottom ones but their quality is much better.

"Although we reported the issue on or about the first of August, the earliest that Choices could have a technician respond was April 10. Considering that the average temperature in the part of our house where the HVAC was not working was in the mid-eighties, we felt that the response time was excessive. Because of the extended response, we were forced to have the unit temporarily repaired for the house to be livable. Your technician was very professional and explained exactly what he was doing each step of the process. Because of the extreme age of the HVAC unit, 25 years old, and the fact that virtually every part had been replaced, we expect that your technician reported that the unit should be replaced. The specifics of the issues are the following: 1. The unit is 25 years old. 2. The condensation coil is rusted and leaking. In fact, your technician had to add a pound of R-22 freon to the unit one week after the unit had been fully charged 7 days earlier. 3. Your technician had to vaccum out the rusted condensation pan even though 7 days earlier the pan had also been vaccumed out. Your response to what your technician and the one we had to hire to make our home livable advised about replacing the unit, will have a direct effect on how we view Choices Home Warranty as a reliable source of home protection. We have a second claim dealing with electrical issues pending and your technician is coming August 15. We will advise how that goes."

"

Mr. John Sherlock arrived at the time and date specified to give us an estimate.  He returned the following day with his assistant and performed the job in one day.  He installed 26 copper lightning rods on the flat roof of our 7,000 square foot home.  These rods were connected with 500 feet of heavy duty copper cable and were grounded at three points with ground rods going down through the drainpipes into the ground. All parts of the system were securely attached to the roof.  He did a neat job and cleaned up all excess materials.  We were very pleased with the job him did.  Since installation of the lightning rod system we have had no trouble with lightning striking the house or causing power outages or surges.

"On all of the replacements or repairs there was a time period of 1 -3 weeks for the repairman. They were all professional . You have to read the contract , I missed the electric part and had to pay for it myself so read your warranty ."

"Matt took care of several small projects the first day and will be returning for several bigger fixes. He did an excellent job on the small stuff and I am looking forward to having him complete several bigger repairs once the materials are delivered.(Any delay is on my end.) He reviewed the upcoming projects thoroughly and gave me reasonable cost estimates. He will be repairing some damaged basement paneling from the 70s, replacing a lot of basement ceiling tiles from the same era, and installing new kitchen ceiling lighting. We are also talking about replacing windows in one bedroom and he has been very helpful in providing info on options., making my choice easier. He was very knowledgeable about all the details involved, and I am confident he will do an excellent job."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Akron, MI

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
