"If you need a skilled, experienced, and professional stone installer, stop now and call Tiles by Chris. You have what you need with his phone number. I have renovated and installed numerous high-end bathrooms and if I had known about Chris in the past, it would have saved me a lot of disappointment.. Chris takes great pride in his impeccable work and really cares whether his customer is happy. I didn't mind waiting for him because it was imperative that our bathroom be restored properly. The new stone needed to be integrated with the existing Italian limestone with an unusual, unmatchable hue (even different parts of the same quarry can produce different hues of limestone). Ultimately, what was most important to us was the skill of the tile installer. I have hired installers who could not mix new grout to match the old, failed to mix up the stone so that the colors were dispersed properly on the wall, and/or did not realize that they needed to build up the surface under the new stone so it was perfectly level with the old. One can easily spend a small fortune and end up unhappy. Not with Chris. There is no part of stone installation that he doesn't understand and you will absolutely love his work. He integrated the stone flawlessly. Chris was recommended by a master plumber who has seen thousands of tile jobs. Don't get impatient and hire anyone who can do your work tomorrow. The angst of a wait goes away but an imperfect job purchased with your hard-earned money lasts forever. Oh! At the end of every day of work, the bathroom was left swept and left clean with all the refuse taken out. Stop your search here."

"3 N 1 arrived promptly, assessed what needed to be done, and gave us an estimate. We agreed to it, and they did the work very professionally. My master bath shower and bathroom floor look like new. (The tile floor is over 20 years old.) We were so pleased with the work that we called back to have the other bathroom floors and laundry room floor grout cleaned. Wow! What a difference."

"Fantastic. The whole process is made simple by the professionalism of Noel in the Sales office, and Donnie in the fabrication facility. The Donnie's many years of experience with stone shows through in the final product. Extremely satisfied from start to finish. These folks care about making sure the customer is beyond pleased at the end of the day. This is our second project with Queen City Kitchens, and if I can find any other places to add stone, I will only go here. Excellent service. Great people. Folks you can trust."

"Abimalec and his team did a super job. They did what they said they would do when they said they would do it. The workmanship is high-quality and so is the product. They were all accommodating, polite, and listened to what I requested. Communication was excellent."

"Franco clearly has been doing this a long time, as he knows how important communication is between the provider of the service and the customer. He arrived within the time range he stated to take measurements and provide a list of supplies that I would need to purchase (i.e., 35 ft. of tile within certain size range, 1 - 32" threshold,1 bag of Thinset, 1 small bag of grout, 1 jumbo wax ring with bolts and 1 water supply line for the toilet). He thought that concrete was probably under my existing tile, since he had worked on a similar older home with plaster walls. After I selected my tiles and purchased my supplies, I called him to set up an appointment to do the work. I was pleasantly surprised that he was willing to start the work on that Sunday, which prevented me from having to be home during the week. He placed drop cloths from the entry way to the bathroom to protect my oak floors. He handled the challenge of a very rusty toilet base screw that was not turning even when WD-40 was applied well.  He made a run to Lowe's to purchase a tool to cut the screw, so he could remove the toilet. He was correct about concrete being under the tiles, which saved me from having to purchase cement board and nails. He removed the old tiles being careful not to let the shards damage a refinished tub. I had an extra drop cloth we placed over the tub side. The concrete under the old tiles was uneven as can be expected in a 1945 year old house, but the tiles were laid level nonetheless with 1/8" grout lines. The tiled floor was laid in a clean straight pattern. He cut the tiles to go around a 3 ft. x 2 ft. vanity cabinet. And, cut a few notches out of the stone threshold, so it would fit nicely in the space. When he came back to grout the tiles and re-install the toilet, he was very aware if his shoes were dirty and insisted upon first washing them before coming into my house. The bathroom tile floor looks beautiful, blending the color of the existing shower tile with the wood floors in the hall. Franco is an experienced professional when it comes to tile installation. He is also friendly, respectful, reliable with high integrity. I definitely will hire him again for any tile or stone installation for kitchens, bathrooms or porches.

FAQs for tile, stone, marble clean, grout, polish and maintain service projects in Albemarle, NC

Use a stiff-bristle brush and warm, soapy water to loosen surface grime. Then, let the grout dry and finish with a grout-specific sealant. This combo cleans without scratching the tile and locks out new stains. Always follow the label directions so the cleaner and sealant bond properly. A few extra minutes of care keep grout bright and help your floors look fresher longer.

The most effective cleaner for badly stained grout is a professional-grade steam machine. High-pressure, high-heat vapor lifts embedded dirt without harsh chemicals and brightens grout lines in one pass. Pros often pre-treat tough spots with a mild solution and finish with a soft brush to protect the tile. The result is a deep, even clean that lasts longer than store-bought products.

Tile and grout are water-resistant, not waterproof. Dense materials like porcelain or glass shed moisture well, but even sealed natural stone and standard cement grout can absorb water over time. That’s why routine sealing and prompt spill cleanup matter.

Keeping moisture out prevents erosion, mold, and discoloration—especially in bathrooms, kitchens, and other splash-prone areas.

Schedule professional tile and grout cleaning every six to 12 months, with quick touch-ups in between. Busy kitchens and bathrooms often need attention on the shorter end of that range because constant moisture speeds up staining.

Sticking to this routine keeps grime from setting, reduces mold risk, and stretches the life of your tile and grout, saving you from bigger repairs later.

When done correctly, tile and grout cleaning is perfectly safe for your floors. Pros match cleaners and brushes to your tile type, control pressure, and avoid harsh chemicals that can etch or erode surfaces.

If you’re DIYing, test new products in an inconspicuous spot and follow label directions. The right technique removes buildup while protecting both the tile glaze and the grout lines.

Yes—apply a fresh sealer once the grout is completely dry, usually 24 hours after cleaning. The sealer forms a moisture-resistant barrier that blocks stains, mold, and everyday dirt, making future scrubbing easier. Skipping this step leaves porous grout exposed, which can lead to discoloration or cracks and, ultimately, expensive repairs. A quick reseal now protects both the grout and the surrounding tile.
