"I hired Julio to repair my rustic front porch handrail, and he did an excellent job. He replaced the damaged leg with a sturdy metal one, and now the handrail feels completely solid. After painting, the new leg blends in so well that it’s hardly noticeable it’s different from the others."

"Initial rep was great and informative. Felt comfortable with initial sale. Hardly had any contact from customer service except for the payments. There were several delays that we were not informed about unless we called to ask. Took 7 months before they showed up to begin project. Only 1 person was sent to build steps. Took a week. Hard worked, hardly took a break. Had to call again to see when they would come to pour patio. Never knew when they were coming, they just showed up. Hardly spoke with the homeowners. Inspection paperwork was just left on porch. Additional paperwork that is "required by the County" had to be completed by homeowner and taken to Court house to be notarized and filed and also provide a copy back to Long Fence. Time sensitive materials which added to homeowners to-do list. Gave this contract to LF on the surface of their history and appearance of a 'good local company' but should have stayed with original contactors in VA. Puddle of water forms when it rains"

Firebelly Renovations is a home improvement company, and we work with homeowners to maximize their living space. We want people to be able to enjoy and appreciate the value of their home. Firebelly Renovations works with our clients in a collaborative process: "We will always strive to increase a property's value through our talent and hard work." Firebelly strives to be recognized for quality and style and being on budget. A company that works hard to achieve the highest level of quality. A company that recommends vendors of the best reputation and best prices. A partner with integrity that has earned its customer's trust.

"Firebelly Renovations began work in our home in January of 2018 for substantial restructuring of our master bath, kitchen, and creation of a mudroom/pantry that took space from the garage and extended the kitchen. The contract stipulated that it would take 60 calendar days. Our expectations were for the project to be completed in April, at the latest, given change orders and construction delays. Firebelly did not complete their work until November, 2018 -- TEN MONTHS LATER!! We ended up hiring a third- party contractor to complete remaining punch list items, as we had difficulty getting Firebelly to return. While we have a kitchen and bathroom that is substantially complete and we are now enjoying, getting to this point was a huge life disruption that took nearly a year. As the months dragged on, we observed questionable commitment to the work product, unreliable business practices, and poor project management. Examples follow: QUESTIONABLE COMMITMENT TO QUALITY WORK -The new flexible vent pipe they installed through the roof for our new dryer was so flawed in design and installation that it collapsed creating a water trap for the humid air (see photo). -Firebelly installed closet doors that block the full use of our new Elfa closet system. Drawers will not fully open (see photo). -In several areas, new walls are not straight, corners deviate from 90 degrees requiring modification to shelving that will be installed in the space, and drywall compound/tape and paint were applied in a sloppy manner (see photos). -Caulking in the kitchen and bathroom has already cracked (less than six months), the toilet has leaked, the shower has leaked, the vessel sinks in the bathroom are not securely fastened in place, the bathroom live-edge vanities have started to sag and need to be re-supported to their installed level (see photo). UNRELIABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES -Firebelly failed to pay a subcontractor plumber, resulting in a lien being placed on our home. We have requested paperwork to settle the matter with the plumber, but Firebelly has not provided it. -Change orders were started and sometimes completed prior to receiving our written approval, a contract stipulation. -They often cut short their 8am to 4pm work day. There were instances of Firebelly excusing themselves from our project for an entire week, giving reasons that did not sound credible. They lied to us about a family vacation in July (that delayed our project another week). We later found out that this was really an excuse for the owner to work on other projects. POOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT -Firebelly made numerous miscalculations on the quantity of product needed. For example, bathroom floor tiling required three separate trips to the store, each time to order more based upon their calculations. Yet, when we returned in August from an overseas trip, we were informed that the tile design was not completed as planned as they did not have enough tile!! -Based on their calculations, we over purchased special-order tile and could not return it, costing us over $200. Another tile store had to make an exception to their return policy because we had exceeded their six-month limit for returns - otherwise, this would have cost us several hundred dollars. -Items, such as kitchen appliances, cabinets, tile, etc., were ordered so they would be available when needed and sat in our living room and garage for months until Firebelly made enough progress to install them. -Subcontractors were hired only as the project proceeded, introducing delays and resulting in variations in cost. Many more frustrations and observations could be listed. This was an ordeal that overtook our lives for the better part of year. We began to wonder if Firebelly had ever done a job of this size before as they did not appear to have the staff or the systems in place to address the challenges of this job. We would not recommend Firebelly for any substantial home renovation."

For over 35 years, American Home Contractors has provided exterior household services and upgrades across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. American Home takes great pride in ensuring customer satisfaction and commits to delivering the highest quality of work when renovating any home.

"American Home Contractors and Hugo in particular were great to work with. We had multiple jobs done which required several trips and Hugo kept us informed and worked around several weather delays. He relocated and installed a new attic fan, hooked up the bathroom fan to a new roof vent, insulated a pipe in the attic, installed apron flashing on four windows, painted the flue vent, reconnected some lose siding and replaced three pieces of rotted trim and painted it. The work appears to be top notch and we appreciate the hard work and long hours Hugo put in! I would definitely recommend this company and most certainly Hugo to everyone. We also had American Home Contractors replace our gutters and install gutter guards. They did an excellent job with that as well."

FAQs for cabinets repair projects in Alexandria, VA

To avoid damaging the surface of wood and composite decks, use a pressure washer with a maximum of 1,300 PSI. For metal or decks made of extra hard surfaces, you can go up to 2,300 PSI. Staying within these limits helps remove stubborn dirt and stains without harming your deck.

Determining whether to use soap when pressure washing your deck depends on the extent of soiling. For lightly soiled decks, water alone may suffice; however, heavy dirt and oily residues demand a specialized, deck-safe detergent. Using the right soap enhances the cleaning process by breaking down stubborn grime while safeguarding the deck’s surface.

The optimal time to pressure wash your deck is in the spring or fall. In spring, cleaning eliminates winter mold and accumulated dirt, while in fall, it removes greasy spills before the cold sets in. Scheduling cleaning during these periods not only enhances your deck’s appearance but also preserves its integrity and reduces long-term maintenance costs.

If your deck was recently stained or sealed, you do not need to apply a new sealant immediately. However, if several years have passed since the last resealing, pressure washing effectively removes old sealant and prepares the surface for a fresh coat. Resealing protects against moisture intrusion and prolongs the deck’s lifespan, ensuring a durable and even finish.
