"Jay was great. Went through our garage, solved our issue, didn't try to upsell us, just a very thorough professional estimate and analysis of a mold-related smell issue."

"Very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. They did a good job cleaning my air ducts and treating them for mold. They worked diligently for 1-1/2 hours. I thought the price was very reasonable. I would hire them again."

"After the visual inspection, the technician told me there was definitely mold in the HVAC system and recommended we do the remediation. The cost: $1500. I decided on going ahead with the testing first just to be sure we had mold before spending that much money. The test was simple enough. The results came back a week later and it turns out we did not need the remediation they were recommending. I do not think the company was just trying to take my money, and the tech was not pushy in any way. I would just recommend doing the test and getting the lab results to tell you whether you need remediation or not (unless of course, the mold is so obvious it is reaching out to you from the walls). Otherwise, pay the $250 to get a more accurate assessment before paying for possibly unnecessary work."

"Excellent. Bruce is extremely honest and professional. I called Bruce after an exterminator warned me that he saw mold in my basement. Bruce came the next day, arrived exactly on time and upon visual inspection, told me that I did not have a mold issue. He could have easily set up treatment and I would have paid as I was afraid for the health of my family but Bruce is about as honest as they come. Jason"

"The master teach was highly informative in explaining the science of the terms. I had previously hired another company and was left confused. I therefore paid more to have a second test by the Mold Test Company, and it was a very wise decision. FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Ashburn, VA

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
