"From my initial meeting with Phil Coleman, owner, to the installation, everything was very professional. The windows that were installed today (10/31/18) are very high quality (triple pane) and sealing the window system in place was done with great expertise. The new windows open easily and there is a screen on the outside for ventilation. The original windows were in a steel frame embedded in the concrete foundation and the windows were no longer able to close for a tight seal plus some of the window panes were cracked. Our basement will be much warmer now. I had trouble finding a company that would do this small job but Phil said no job is too small for them. I would highly recommend this company-they do big jobs and small jobs. Phil presented copies of several reference letters that were very impressive."

"It went extremely well. Old windows had to be extracted from stucco trim and cutting the frames out was tedious and difficult. Technicians kept the place as dust free as possible using ceiling to floor plastic. Job was done in 2 days. The finished job exceeded my expectations"

"Halldale Builders was completely professional and my son is now the proud owner of an energy efficient, very well-built, and very beautiful new home. The construction is outstanding, and every detail is well-thought out and completed. We highly recommend this company if you would like to have the complete package of finding the best materials at the best price. The owner does happen to be my 2nd cousin, but we were treated the same way I have no doubt he treats all of his customers; with integrity, thoughtfulness, and pride in his company's workmanship. *Now that I have made these comments, I see at the end a box to verify I am not related to the owner in any way, as said before I am related, so that would make him, technically a 2nd cousin once removed from my son, but I don't think for a moment that that should matter. I know he is completely satisfied with the work and am posting this for him as he doesn't have internet access at home as yet.*"

"Completely satisfied throughout the process of choosing a contractor and having them replace old shingles.  Brian returned my call promptly, met me when he said he would, started and finished the job on time, while keeping me updated daily on the progress, and did quality work. <br />"

"Excellent! I'd bought a beautiful slab French door last year from Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and painted it this past winter, but had difficulty finding someone to install it. After doing a lot of research, I found that installing a slab door requires a high degree of carpentry skill. <br /> I got David's name from my aunt - he has done some work for her. He came by on 08/13/15 with his assistant Seth to look at the job. The installation was complicated by the fact that the French door is a true exterior door - 1-3/4' thick, whereas the original back door  was 1-5/8" thick. After discussing two approaches to adjust for the great thickness, we went with my approach of trimming the door stop by 3/8" so that the door would sit completely within the frame. <br /> We arranged to do the work on 08/19/15. The work took a couple hours. He removed a lock remnant from the previous owners from the door frame. He did say candidly that he was not a finish carpenter, so I had to fill the spot where the lock remnant had been with wood putty, and also fill the area on the frame where the bolt lock had been on the original door, but I was fine with that. I do some DIY work, but I know my limitations - installing an exterior door is one of them. When they were done, David and Seth moved the original door to my cellar per my request - I may reuse it in the future.  <br /> David and Seth came back the next morning after I had chance to paint the raw wood that was revealed by the trimming. They quickly reinstalled the weather stripping, and we settled up. The $125 price was a bargain - the fellow I know at Home Depot's door desk once told me that $500-600 is a normal price for slab door installation. I've lived with door for a month now, and it still moves and locks easily. It is very nice having more sunshine in my kitchen. I'll appreciate it even more when winter arrives and the kitchen is both warm and sunny.    <br /> David and his assistant Seth were friendly and down to earth, and I felt very comfortable with them in my house, and that's important too.  <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Corey has been instrumental in keeping this renovation moving forward.  He has done demo, built new walls, installed vinyl flooring, installed windows and doors, both replacement and new construction, landscaping, worked with the other trades to help keep their end of the job going smoothly, repaired the work of my not-so-handy husband, all with professionalism, good cheer and a good sense of humor. Since we are living in the house, he has had to work around the trappings of daily life, moving furniture, letting the pets in and out, answering all of the questions of my resident, retired mother.  His work is top qualty and he leaves the spaces he works in cleaner than he found them, in most cases.  I would heartily recommend Corey for any future projects."

FAQs for new windows service projects in Augusta, ME

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
