"The deck was not built to the plan as contracted in picture and graph and writing. When we met with the owner and then with his workman, they both said they build the deck according to the plan. So we signed the contract. But then the workman showed up with the lumber already purchased, they did not have a copy of the plan. They built a deck that did not match the plan. We paid them in full. We met with the supervisor and he agreed that it was not according to plan. We told them to just remove the deck and we would get someone else to do it. They would not even do that. Our remedy is to go to court."

"Pro: Meticulous, professional, timely, excellent work product. Would re-hire them without a second thought. Con: Can't think of any, except maybe that they aren't the cheapest? We tend to not hire the cheapest service providers anyway - usually get what you pay for. We recently moved to Charlotte; knew when we bought the house that the relatively recent addition needed some fresh attention to address the original painter's failure to prime, resulting in deteriorating paint as well as some wood rot on windowsills and trim. We saw Serpaco Painting busy at work on historic homes in Dilworth and decided that if they can be entrusted with that work, we should at least get a quote. The owner, Chris Gray, arrived to give an estimate and we knew right away he is the kind of person we prefer to give our business to. He took time to carefully evaluate the job and give us what we felt was a reasonable estimate - he described his business as not the cheapest but not the most expensive. When the crew arrived, his crew chief, Hugo, was also personable and professional. The crew remained roughly the same throughout the job and were pleasant and polite (never saw a cigarette around them, either). They consistently showed up when they said they would, explained what the day's priorities were and then followed through. Chris was onsite at least once a day to keep apprised of progress and to point out any additional priorities to Hugo and the crew, and also to touch base with us. He also provided well-reasoned advice about colors and contrasts when we asked. The job ended up requiring more woodworking than anticipated as there was some additional, hidden rotted wood. Hugo may be primary a painter but he is also an adept craftsman, rebuilding our front porch facade and column. They prepped more than any painting crew I have ever seen, sanding for about a week before starting any paint. The priming was thorough and the painting very well-done. When the job was deemed to be nearly complete, Chris came to walk around with us. He noticed the things we had noted, but also pointed out several other areas that were not to his liking; Hugo came back the next day to repaint one of our shutters that was a little streaky, and one entire side of the house that needed another coat to counter the effects of the sanding that was required (the extra coat improved it tremendously), but also to take off, sand, and refinish our front door. Although the front door was not part of the coat, it seemed that the bleach used in pressure washing the siding had dripped through the plastic-and-tape covering intended to protect the door. The refinished front door looks great, too. We are extremely happy with the finished product and suggested that Chris can keep his sign in the yard as long as he wants."

"Originally scheduled for a Tuesday, Bill gave me plenty of notice that the weather was looking bad for days (it was) and that he could get to my project on Saturday morning. So glad he did. He showed up on time, did the work requested and then some, making the exterior of my house (that I need to sell pretty soon) look like it did 20 years ago when it was built. He also washed my driveway and I'm pretty sure it hasn't looked this clean except maybe the day it was poured. I was actually stunned when I walked out my front door. "Be careful dealing with Triangle Reconstruction. Rob, the owner comes off as humble, honest and sincere, but if something goes wrong watch out ! I hired Triangle Reconstruction back in the winter to repair the foundation at my house. This was a very large project of which I had paid him about a third. On January 11 they caused a fire at my house burning down my kitchen. Rob was very apologetic at first, but when I told him I wanted another company to finish the project he said I owed him a lot of money for the work they did and he claimed that they had completed %80 of the job. Fortunately, I had a reputable structural engineer come out to inspect my foundation before they started working on my house and then I had him come back after the fire. The engineer stated only 1/3 of the work had been completed - if that much ! Rob also threatened to file a stop work order if I did not let him bring ‘his engineer’ out to look at it. I understand accidents happen and against the advice of many people I was actually willing to give him the opportunity to finish the job and try to help rectify the situation. However Rob’s estimate to finish was nowhere close to being equitable and provided no consideration for the hardship he has caused in my life. His estimate even included money owed for work they did in the kitchen which was burnt in the fire that they caused ! He clearly doesn’t understand the gravity of this and what my family and I have gone through and what we’re still going through. We have been out of our house for almost 5 months now and probably won’t be able to move back in for another month or two. My family has suffered tremendously due to this company’s negligence."

"I used Custom Renovations, as well as Custom Electric for a major updating of my 1930s house in the Lindley Park area of Greensboro. The electrical work began 12/04/18, with the demolition starting 7/09/19. The job completion (with final walk-through) was 1/28/20. There were multiple aspects to the total job: attic insulation, floor refinishing, redoing of an old back porch (which involved raising my back roof line to raise my master bathroom's ceiling), adding a back deck, and painting the house's interior walls. Both bathrooms were updated, as well as my kitchen. In the process, all my old iron piping was upgraded as well. Custom Electric not only replaced all my old "knob & tube" wiring, but also placed additional wall outlets & smoke detectors to bring the house into current code compliance. The Custom employees (foreman, electrical, plumbing & carpentry), as well as the various contractors (painters, dry wall installers, tilers, insulators, & floor refinishers) employed by Custom were all very professional and did a great job. Chris S******, Custom's owner, was very accessible to answer any of my concerns & provided expert options to the many decisions (structural & electrical) that arose during the process. Christin G*********, my Custom design consultant, was invaluable in walking me through the many design decisions that confronted me: kitchen cabinet, sink, fixtures, tile & countertop selections, bathroom configurations, shower design, fixtures & sink selections, floor stains, etc. She assisted me in navigating the various suppliers of these items, and was patient and informative. During the whole project, I ended up asking Custom for 12 change orders, Some changes were necessitated by issues arising during the construction. Some changes were additions I just requested as the project moved along. From the beginning through to the end, both Chris & Christin were transparent about the project's costs. In summary, Custom did a very professional job and I would recommend them. I'm very pleased with my house's upgrades."
