"Worst mistake ever - I heard these were great windows and they are really good windows. The problem is they were not measured correctly. The windows are too small for the opening and the installers had to put molding around them. I have pictures of the huge gap taken during installation. Now on hot days my AC runs constantly. It was MUCH better with the builder-grade windows that I replaced. I expected better for the thousands of dollars that I spent. I called and asked Mr. Ringer about this and have been ignored. I heard that the guy that does the measuring for projects is ill and is being replaced. At this point I regret going with the locally owned company. I do not know if the problem can even be corrected with different molding or insulation. I assume that I have no recourse but my attorney is the next stop. I would call anybody but Ringer for replacement windows."

"This review is going to be a little long winded so bare with me. I will rate the different stages of my experience with universal windows so to be fair to each department I had to deal with. First off I want to rate the experience I had when I initially reached out for a quote. I would give them overall 5 stars. I filled out the request on their website and within 24 hours they reached out to me asking what my project was and set up an appointment. Overall very easy and quick to handle. The appointment: overall I would again give 5 stars. We discussed which windows I would like to replace and what type I would like to replace them with. The sales guy had a great demonstration of their windows and even brought samples with him so that I could choose my color. He even saved me some money by showing me one window that other companies said I needed tempered glass I actually didnt. They even came in cheaper then all of the other window companies I had called out to get quotes from. I was told it would be around 16ish weeks for the windows to arrive and they arrived in 16 weeks exactly. The install: The overall install was about a 3.5 to 4 star experience. I was told it should take only one day, but to plan for 2 just in case. The install did take 2 days. The guys worked as hard as they could with the excessive heat we had over the summer. It was a 2 man crew for my install. They are contacted out by the company to do the work. We have an issue with our front window, but overall everything else works fine. Issues: We have a large window in our kitchen that was not installed per the contract. We were told they would have to cut out about 3 inches of our window on the inside and that they would replace all the wood around the outside of the window, but they do not paint. They did not cut out any part of the kitchen window, and only replaced the rotten wood once I pulled out my contract and showed them what they were supposed to do. They had to run to the hardware store to purchase some wood to replace the rotted pieces. The window screen was not cut properly so one slight blow will knock it right out. Here is where the big issue is, we spoke to Scott the owner multiple times. He said they will have to order a new screen and come and install it from the sounds of it. However this was months ago now and have not heard anything from them. I even emailed Scott before hand and expressed my disappointment in their follow up communication. Scott called me right away and apologized and explained that because it's just a screen and it's so hot outside and I wont be opening my windows it is a lower priority. I told him that I understood that, however, he should have communicated that to us the first time I reached out about this issue. A little communication goes a long way. Scott agreed, and apologized. After that phone call I have not heard ANYTHING from him or the company, I don't even think our new screen has been ordered yet. I am deeply disappointed in this company, feel as thought they did the good ole bait an switch. Oh we got the windows installed, got our money, and we don't care to fix our mess ups. The reasoning for my 1 star review is that I gave them multiple chances to fix their error, and fix their lack of communication and they don't seem to care since they did their "job." I hope that they read this and reach out to me and let me know when the right screen can be installed, because, now it is open window season, and I want to be able to open them whenever I please. By the way you can tell my kitchen window is off because it sticks and is really hard to open to let the breeze in. I hope they fix that issue as well. I am sad to have to write such a review because I had such high expectations for this company. The beginning was great, however, its gone so bad since then."

"This was my first experience with Rigdon, and it couldn’t have been easier. The whole process was honest, smooth, and pleasant. They communicated well, made everything stress-free, and I’m definitely planning to be a repeat customer. This was my first time having holiday lights installed, and Rigdon made the entire experience easy and enjoyable. After a scare last year, I knew I didn’t want to handle it myself and wanted someone experienced. Rigdon worked with me on a wide range of design options and really listened to what I wanted. They communicated clearly every step of the way and even coordinated the takedown around my birthday, which was such a nice touch. Everything was seamless from start to finish. I’ll absolutely be using them again."

"We have been loyal customers of Austin Window Fashions since moving to Texas in 2003. They have provided excellent service and products. Our Hunter Douglas Duette Veriglide for the large sliding glass door broke after 13 years. After considering shutters and other options, we decided to order a new Veriglide. Our Austin Window Fashions' representative was honest and courteous. She gave us a good price and was accurate on the time of delivery. The installers, Jason and Travis, were courteous and gave us good advice on the care and maintenance of the Veriglide. They arrived on time, took down the old Duette and installed the new one in less than one hour. They cleaned the area of all debris. This was another good experience with Austin Window Fashions."

"Shane Dayton has done repairs for me for several years and decided I wanted him to do a total exterior renovation to our two story house. We reached an agreement based on exterior was to look like a new house. All personnel, particularly Alphonso and David, and subcontractors provided excellent work performed on a timely basis and the appearance is that of a new house. There were only minor problems and were taken care of promptly. My career was in construction and know the different levels of quality. Shane's work is top level and will certainly work with him again."

"Great job! Just had them upgrade a bathroom and help to restore damage to several rooms caused by a leaking toilet. They worked well with our insurance to get it all done. They were fast, respectful and very easy to work with. Everything looks great!"

FAQs for new windows service projects in Austin, TX

Yes, bay windows add value to a home. They enhance the property by expanding the interior space and flooding rooms with natural light. Their unique three-panel design creates a stunning focal point that elevates curb appeal and modernizes living areas. This architectural detail increases both functional space and visual appeal, directly contributing to higher home resale value.

Yes, all window types have the potential to become part of a bay window configuration when modified correctly. The transformation involves reconfiguring standard windows into a multi-panel design that features a larger central window flanked by smaller ones. This process requires precise professional planning and custom framing to ensure durability, visual balance, and structural integrity.

Bay windows typically consist of three glass panels extending beyond the home's exterior walls, with a larger center panel flanked by two smaller ones. In contrast, bow windows are composed of four to six equally sized glass panels that create a gentle curve and do not extend as far from the exterior walls.

Bay windows cost more than standard windows because their expansive, multi-panel design requires additional materials and skilled labor. Their construction involves extra glass, specialized frame components that extend outward, and complex operating mechanisms. These technical demands necessitate precise engineering and multiple expert installations, thereby significantly increasing both material and labor expenses.

Bay windows cost three times more than standard double-hung windows because their design requires extra panels, expanded framing, and a more complex installation process. The advanced construction method increases material consumption and demands comprehensive expertise, while specialized window treatments further elevate expenses. This all results in a significant difference in overall project cost.
