"Extremely well. They quoted me a price over the phone for the new opener and stuck to it! When the installer arrived he warned us that the repair may be more than expected and explained why. I approved it. When he got into it he determined it was not as extensive as originally thought! Both doors work very well now. It has been over 2 weeks since the work was done."

"If I could offer 0 stars I would. And I’m sure this review among all the others will be filtered as well. We are now going on 3 months of an unfinished job from Bobby specifically. This whole process has been completely disappointing. My grandfather originally called around looking for someone to help replace springs on an original garage door that was installed on the house over 30 years ago. Bobby and his associate showed up in an unprofessional manner with a sort of arrogance about him that I did not like from the get go. The request turned quickly from requesting replacement springs to Bobby upselling an entire garage door to my grandfather. Going from a $700 job to around $3500 was the first red flag. Why would you recommend an entire door that has held up for so many years, along with other original doors in the neighborhood that still stand. Ok we will give this a shot. Bobby showed up with zero paperwork, pamphlets anything about his business aside from a descaled truck. He had what looked like paint swatches for colors for doors but did not present my Grandparents with any options for them to choose from. Colors, styles, windows, accessories, nothing yet was quick to try and get them to order a $3500 door that he promised would be better , more insulated and great quality compared to what we originally had. The professionalism was just not there especially the way he was talking to my grandparents. Timeliness is not there with him either. He spoke about military family background and understanding being on time and proper jobs yet when he stated he would be to the house by 9-10 am and didn’t show up till 2 pm , that was the second red flag. Not once did Bobby reach out with any updates for my grandfather either. The following day he stated he would come by with a pamphlet of Options for windows and colors , which he should have done originally upon meeting. Who are you to decide what my grandparents like and want for a door? Again, timeliness was not there. Waited around all day till around 3 pm for Bobby to randomly show up even when my grandpa would reach out for updates times. Unprofessional to not update your customers with times especially when you say you will be by early morning and we wait around and change plans to be sure we are home. We were told because we wanted windows it would take a bit longer to get the door, understandable as long as we were getting what we wanted. But it wasn’t Bobby who came to install the door. It was someone else who ended up leaving behinds numerous nails in the drive where we ended up having two flat tires from running them Over! The weather strip was removed from the outside and Bobby claimed he would be by the following day to do it himself because he did not trust the original installer to do it the way he liked. My grandpa was given excuse after excuse why Bobby coolant show up, claiming family emergency, hurt back or shoulder so we went weeks without seeing or hearing from Bobby. When he did finally show up, he tried to install this weather strip but did not have it measured correctly or have the correct equipment and was warping the materials using the wrong screws to “try” to install before my grandpa said to stop and come back when he felt better and had the right material and equipment. Weeks went by again and my grandpa kept trying to reach out. Finally mid November Bobby responded saying he’s made multiple trips out here already and there’s nothing else for him to do. Wrong. We have an unfinished job . The door sucks quality wise. And we have an inch and a half all around the door opening to the outside because of no weather strip to seal the door. We have gone through major snow already and the garage is even colder than it has ever been effecting the refrigerators we have out there now. A problem we never had to begin with. This poor quality door and lack of job completion is unacceptable. Then to top it off, Bobby said he was going on vacation the first week of December and will contact my grandpa back when he returns. Job Still not complete"

"He was here within 15 min of my phone call, the spring broke and I couldn't get my car out( had a Dr appointment) said he couldn't fix the door that day, but would come back the next day at 10:00, ( he was here before 10)had him replace the door( my choice) no high pressure selling, very polite and efficient, was finished before noon! He cleaned everything up, left nothing behind. Very pleased with this company and would Definitely recommend and use them again. He even got my mail for me, I'm 74 and not too sure footed, I fall when there isn't snow!! Very Pleasant Experience! Thanks NG Overhead Garage Door!! ☺️"

"I am extremely happy with the service provided by Josh. He takes his customers very seriously. He came out to inspect the issue with our garage door the same day I contacted him and quoted a great price to fix it. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about what he was doing. I would recommend him and his service to everyone."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Avon Lake, OH

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
