"All was repaired quickly. I thought I would need a new faucet, but they were able to repair the one I had. I thought that the price was very reasonable. The repair men were very friendly and professional."

"Drain pipes in wall behind sinks Had been leaking for long time without our being able to locate leak. While they were engaged we also used them to replace three toilets with new low-water styles which required the replacement of the mounting flange in kind bathroom. <br />They did excellent work, and although we did not obtain bids, based on the number of hours/days involved, I think we got good value <br />"

"I was impressed with the honesty. My swamp cooler requires 1 very expensive pad and the tech told me that at this point he would not recommend me changing it out but advised me what the signs were when it was time. He installed a new pump and was done within an hour. Very professional and I will definitely call them again."

"Turned out great. No more ugly florescent lights. Floors are beautiful. We had some hiccups with the crew hired to do the tile work. Ended up paying extra out of pocket for tile and had issues with face plates fitting on all electrical outlets when tile work was done. Took way longer than it should have to get the issue worked out, but once done, looks great and we are happy."

"I was in need of a new replacement water heater and after comparing prices with others I settled on The Honest Plumber. They furnished the new water heater and installed it for me the day after I called at a very reasonable price. A service guy by the name of Ricky came to my house to do the work. From the onset he was courteous and professional and did an excellent job with the installation. He even explained to me the various steps he would take to complete the job. Before he left he explained the basic features of the new water heater and how everything worked. All in all I am very satisfied and would recommend The Honest Plumber to anyone needing plumbing type work done."

"The first project was electrical socket and breaker box work to replace faulty job from a different contractor. Second was to replace and rebuild bathroom floors, shower plumbing, and tile work. Third was to install wood flooring in kitchen, laundry, and front door areas. Lastly was to paint walls in bedrooms and kitchen. Following the painting, was to replace four windows due to rot. His quality of work was very professional, and all jobs are done in a quality manner that I am truly pleased with. I would recommend him highly to all friends and coworkers. <br />"

"This company is awesome. We called them Friday Late morning and he gave me a price right on the phone. The price was very reasonable. I asked if he could possibly accommodate us for that day since the homeowner is elderly and it would be a hardship for the toilet to be out of commission. He moved his entire schedule around and drove all the way to Terra Bella to make sure the job was done that day. He did not even add an emergency service fee or a fuel fee. He was so good we had him install our new toilet for a nominal additional charge and we could not be happier. They were very professional, courteous, and pleasant, not to mention quick. I would recommend them to my family, friends, and anyone else who needs a plumber. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Bakersfield, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
